This luxury, sunny, ground floor chalet is in a great location. Recently built and finished to a very high standard it offers the ideal base for exploring the Chamonix valley. The open plan living room looks out onto Mont Blanc with fantastic views of the Aiguille de Midi. The room is warm with wooden panelling, there are 2 sofas, one of which folds out into a sprung double bed. A TV and DVD player are provided. A large dining table is next to patio doors leading to a south facing terrace, outside is a garden area perfect for sun-bathing. The fitted kitchen has fridge, dishwasher, microwave and hob. The double bedroom has an en-suite shower room, the 2nd bedroom has bunk beds. There is a luxury family bathroom with separate WC. The busy town centre in Chamonix is only a 10min walk away also the train stop and the ski bus stop going to the ski areas are a 1min walk away. There is a car parking slot and a ski / boot store in the underground car park and basement.

Ski Details: The Chamonix valley has several ski areas which are easily accessed by the ski buses or there are spacious car-parks at the bottom of each of the main lifts.

The ski bus stop is at the bottom of the drive and will go down the valley to Les Houches or up the valley as far as Vallorcine, giving acess to Le Tour, Argentiere and all the Chamonix lifts.

There is a nursery slope in the town and also at each of the ski areas. Chamonix offers skiing and boarding for all abilities and has large off piste areas to test the more adventurous! You can ski in a different place every day and return to the buzzing resort of Chamonix for every evening.

Chamonix : Chamonix has all the facilities of a town; with a great variety of shops, restaurants and bars, cinema, museums, sports centre, ice-skating, tennis, squash, swimming pools and a very good 18 hole golf course.

There are fabulous walking and running trails all over the valley, some are world famous and every year Chamonix hosts the ultimate 'Ultra Trail' covering over 154km in August. For hikers this trail is known as Le Tour du Mont Blanc (5+ day walking trip).

The climbing is spectacular with the highlight being the annual Climbing World Championships in July. Mountain biking is very popular for both cross-country and down-hilling trails and the golf course in Chamonix is of a very high standard with excellent facilities. During the summer the alpine rivers swell from the mountain snow and the white water activities really come into their own.

As the Valley cuts through the highest mountains in Europe, the skiing in Chamonix has a reputation for being among the best available. This reputation is built on the fact that Chamonix Mont Blanc has the world's biggest skiable vertical drop that is served by lifts (2807m). It also boasts one of the world's longest runs - 22 km through the Vallée Blanche - and staged the World's first Winter Olympics in 1924.

Our recommendation is that you fly to Geneva airport it is only 50 miles to Chamonix and takes little more than an hour. You may choose to hire a car or we can arrange a transfer for you. You may choose to travel by train or public bus from the airport although the journey takes much longer.

Chamonix is best known for its extreme skiing, climbing, high mountain hiking and mountain biking. This busy alpine village is extremely popular in the winter and summer seasons with tourists clambering for a glimpse of Mont Blanc. Chamonix has all the facilities of a town with a great variety of shops, restaurants and bars, cinema, museums, sports centre, ice-skating, tennis, squash, swimming pools and 18 hole golf course.

There are fabulous walking and running trails all over the valley as well as xc mountain biking and downhilling and unlimited climbing areas for all abilities.

The skiing/snowboarding is ideal for intermediate and advanced skiers, but also great ski schools for beginners.

Other Activities: All Alpine activities are catered for in the area. Ask us if there is anything special you are interested in I'm sure we can arrange it!

Golf: The par 72 golf course is overlooked by some of the highest peaks in the Alps and is next to the Felgere Ski Resort . If you are staying in Chamonix it is a 5min drive or you can take the train or a bus to Les Praz.

The golf course in the Chamonix valley has a high standard with excellent facilities. It is situated next to the village of Les Praz. Constructed in 1934, originally with 4 holes, it was officially opened on the 20 July 1935 with 9 holes completed. It was only in 1972 the council decided on a further 9 holes. So 10 years later, on the 26 September 1982 it was relaunched with 18 holes.

A technical course designed by the prestigious architect Robert Trent Jones Senior, who knew how to make the most of the environment. The course is notable for the its numerous obstacles and raised greens. There is a driving range of 29 bays of which 14 are covered, 2 training greens and 2 bunkers. Course open every day, reservations 24 hours in advance.

Ski: Chamonix provides skiing for all abilities with nursery slopes at Les Planards, Les Chosalets as well great ski schools at all the ski resorts. However, Chamonix is ideal for the intermediate and advanced skier. The intermediate runs boast excellent groomed pistes, trails and mogul fields. For the expert skier there is limitless off piste skiing and some of the steepest and most challenging runs in the Alps including the awe-inspiring 22km ski down the Vallée Blanche on the Mer de Glace with a mountain guide.

The skiing in the Chamonix Valley is spread over 5 separate areas which are linked by a regular and efficient bus service included in the lift pass. At the base of the Valley is Les Houches. From the Chamonix centre Le Brévent which is linked to La Flégère. Up the Valley is Les Grands Montets at Argentière and finally Le Tour.

Booking for long week-end 19th - 24th April 2006
The Arnold family send their kind regards and many thanks for the use of your chalet. We left at 6 am this morning and are now home safe and sound. The chalet was beautiful and an absolute pleasure to stay in..and what a view! The weather was perfect about 25 degrees (on the balcony) most days which made for rather slushy snow conditions but who cares when you can ski in a tee shirt all day. There is still some snow left but the heavy rain on our last night has finished the season off and most runs are closing now anyway. Again many thanks and who knows we might get in touch soon to book again for next year.
