The scenery is breath taking; wave action is spectacular. Park your car in the driveway of our two-bedroom Pleasure Point Cottage and walk less than three blocks from our front door to Pleasure Point, one of the finest surfing spots on the West coast! The climate is mild; and, there is plenty of room to stroll, jog, ride a bike, leave your footprints in the sand, or sit and observe. The Boardwalk Amusement Park is only a 10 minute drive from our front door. You will find our Pleasure Point Cottage provides the perfect home base for a wonderful adventure.

The kitchen is equipped with all of the basic appliances, including a gas stove, dishwasher and microwave, electric coffee pot, dishes and cookware.

The county is blessed with 14 state parks, including the popular Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, accessible by steam train from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. There are plenty of places close by to end the day with a glass of wine and a fresh plate of seafood. The pier at the Boardwalk is one favorite places to toast the sunset. The Shadow Brook Restaurant in nearby Capitola would be a wonderful place for a special dining experience. About Lorraine Heng

After teaching for thirty-four years and maintaining cars, airplanes and properties for even longers, we have become 'snow birds'. Creating 'home' along the west coast has been a life long passion; and, we enjoy sharing our talents and creations with others.

Lorraine Heng purchased this cottage in 1979

Why Lorraine Heng chose Pleasure Point

We love the ambience, especially the fresh ocean air and natural beauty of Montery Bay, and the powerful surge of waves on the beach. There is a wealth of outdoor activities; and, access to the San Francisco peninsula is easy from the Santa Cruz area.

What makes this cottage unique

Where else in the world can we comfortably stroll so many beaches, walk the dog in the Light House Field or along the marsh, ride horsback through the nearby redwood forests,or go kyaking in Elk Horn Slough? One of our continuing favorites is to watch the otters, birds, and sea lions play in the estuary while enjoying a fine dinner at the Fish Factory in Moss Landing.

A fabulous time in the cozy cottage by the sea.

  • 5 of 5

Four of us journeyed from afar to meet in a cottage near the sea. We had a fabulous time at this surprisingly centrally located property. Our one week living on Pleasure Point allowed us to play in many places. We visted San Francisco to drive through, saw the Aqaurium at Monterey, picniced under the tall redwoods in San Lorenzo Valley, kayaked in Elkhorn Slough and shopped for books in Santa Cruz. The property was older but well maintained and up to date.

We loved our front yard barbeque as much as our dinner on the houseboat at the Monterey Wharf. The kitchen was new, clean, and had the basics. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom a little larger than expected and the neighbors all quiet. The owner was prompt in replies and and accurately represented the property. All and all this was an excellent choice for our not quite annual get-to-gather. Lolly, Lindley, Ferd and Beth

great location

  • 4 of 5

PROS: The location is perfect, the cottage was well-furnished and immaculately clean. The kitchen was well-equipped with plates, cutlery, and cooking tools (although not much in the way of condiments, cooking oil, etc). You can easily walk to several beaches, and there is a charming little cafe/burrito hangout about 2 minutes walk away open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Lovely garden, with a low fence. Dog-friendly.

CONS: A bit of a strange layout; the bedrooms were generously sized, so is the bathroom, but the kitchen and living room are small. The only dining table is in the kitchen, and the space is just large enough to accommodate 4 chairs, with only a little passing space between the chairs and stove. We wished there were an enclosed space (garage) to store our bikes, which we locked up in the yard.

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at the pleasure point beach cottage. The cottage was in a great location- 2 minute walk to the beach where surfers were out all day long. Great views from the beach, across to Capitola The cottage was large and spacious with equipment ready to use. We had the cottage with 2 bedrooms- one queen bed and the other with 2 single beds. All rooms were big and spacious. The kitchen was fully equipped with refrigerator, cooker, microwave etc. Large bathroom. Just 10 minute drive to the Santa Cruz boardwalk, which is brilliant. Seating area and barbecue outside was a lovely addition. Overall really enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: We are continuing to try and upgrade this wonderful little cottage: Two new leather sofas, a large screen TV and a new queen size mattress and box spring set are the latest additions. The cottage is very special to us and we want our guests to be comfortable.

Extended weekend with the girls

  • 5 of 5

This place was super cozy and comfortable and being so close to the beach which was an added bonus. We walked the block and a half every morning to check out the surfers.

Owner's Response: I think the fresh smell of the ocean air and the sound of the crashing surf adds to the feeling of comfort and relaxation. It's an experience not to be missed!

Filthy/Old

First I want to say I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the place when we showed up. First thing I did when I got there was swiffer the floors not once, not twice, but three times and still our feet were black. I have small kids and had to put blankets on the ground for them to play. When I showed up my feet slid on the ground from dirt. The kitchen it self was fine with the exception of the floors. There we dust bunny's and cob webs everywhere. I would like a refund for the cleaning fee since I had to clean up myself when I was there. Last thought, thank goodness there was enough swiffer stuff there cause I went through 14 wipes. Oh and the BBQ was completely caked on with old food that I had to clean. besides the place being super dirty some things we didn't like were the doors wouldn't even shut all the way. the floors are super load to walk on so if you have kids sleeping good luck. The master bedroom shares a wall with the neighbors family room so i hope you get quite neighbors. walls are paper thin. linen were like taking a trip back to 1985. The beds were super load and springy.

there is one thing we thought was great though and that is the location and thats why i give it 2 stars instead of 1. I would not ever stay here again.

Owner's Response: This tenant failed to mention he came in early; was nine hours late in departing, ignored the terms of the rental agreement; interfered with the cleaning crew; and inconvenienced the next guest. Unfortunately, negative comments and complaints don’t account for his irresponsible behavior.

a bit more guidance...

  • 4 of 5

Great location and nice place. A few comments - it turned out to be quite cold in evening but it took us forever to locate the thermostat. Similarly, we had some trouble with the tv controls and had to guess what gets placed in what bin in Santa Cruz. A little sheet with some guidance to strangers on such matters would help.
