Pleasure Point Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Charming 2BR Beach Cottage in Santa Cruz near Pleasure Point. Parking, Dogs OK

Fall is the perfect time for a trip to the Monterey Bay Area. School is back in session and many vacationers have gone back to work. The roads are less crowded, providing opportunity to explore the coast at your leisure. And, our two-bedroom Pleasure Cottage provides the perfect home away from home. The kitchen is equipped with all of the basic appliances, including a gas stove, dishwasher and microwave, electric coffee pot, dishes and cookware. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, fresh linens, and desk with access to Wi-Fi, a TV, open beam ceiling and walk-in closet. The second bedroom has two extra-long, twin size beds that are comfortable for adults as well as children. Toys, high chair, and portable crib are available on request. Sleeping pads with extra bedding are available too, in case of need.

All of the utilities, cable TV, Wi-Fi, laundry, gardener, barbeque and picnic table are provided. We even have storage space for your bike and/or surf board. This attached cottage has off-street parking and its own private, fenced yard. Yes, your dog is welcome too. He/she will appreciate the fenced yard and walks throughout the dog friendly neighborhood.

Santa Cruz has 29 miles of sand and surf that make Santa Cruz the home of surfing, a sport that connects you to the sea in a way that nothing else can. Cowell's Beach, Steamer Lane, (a favorite surfing spot), Twin Beach, and Castle Beach, are near the Santa Cruz Wharf.Driving south of Pleasure Point, you will find Manresa Beach, La Selva, Capitola Beach, Seacliff Beach (sunken cement ship), Seascape Beach, and Sunset Beach (romance).

Driving North of Pleasure Point, check out the Santa Cruz Harbor; discover Light House Field State Beach (good surfing and great place to walk dogs).

Natural Bridges State Beach, known for its tide-pooling and famous natural rock bridge, feels secluded but is easily accessible from the road. This state park is a Monarch Butterfly sanctuary for as many as 100,000 butterflies that are drawn to the mild ocean air and eucalyptus grove in the winter months.

Further north are: Wilder Ranch Beach (historic site), Davenport Beach (tiny town with a good bakery),and Four-mile Beach (known for beach parties), Scotts Creek Beach, (a favorite for beach combing ) Waddell Creek Beach, a (a good spot for wind-surfing) Bonny Dune Beach and Red-White-Blue (clothing is optional).

The county is also blessed with 14 state parks, including the popular Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, accessible by steam train from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. This is a trip through the redwoods and back, even if you don’t like to hike. Check the schedule before you go. If you want more adventure: Hike, ride a bike or zip line through the beautiful redwood forests of the Santa Cruz mountains.

If you have a loved one that is college bound, be sure to check out the UCSC Campus. Also, visit The Seymour Marine Discovery Center. It’s a part of the Joseph M. Long Marine Laboratory, a research and education facility of the University of California, located about 3.5 miles from Pleasure Point Cottage. For a wonderful day adventure, drive a little further to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It’s well worth your time.

You may take your pick of up to forty-five different Santa Cruz wineries. Winemaker Wednesdays at Shadow Brook Restaurant features 2 to 4 wines from local wineries in a spectacular river front setting. The Shadow Brook Restaurant in nearby Capitola would be a special dining experience. Fragrant gardens and rustic creek-side location add much to the ambience, not to mention a quaint cable car that takes you down to the restaurant and lounge to enjoy live guitar music and happy hour. Barrel Tasting & Wine Dinner is held at Bonny Doon Vineyard every Thursday where you can glimpse into the winery & cellar. Barrel tasting is followed by a hosted three-course family-style dinner paired with wines of Bonny Doon Vineyard.

The pier at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk or the Fish Market at Moss Landing are favorite places to enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner while taking full advantage of the coastal setting.

After teaching for thirty-four years and maintaining cars, airplanes and properties for even longers, we have become 'snow birds'. Creating 'home' along the west coast has been a life long passion; and, we enjoy sharing our talents and creations with others.

Lorraine Heng purchased this cottage in 1979

We love the ambience, especially the fresh ocean air and natural beauty of Montery Bay, and the powerful surge of waves on the beach. There is a wealth of outdoor activities; and, access to the San Francisco peninsula is easy from the Santa Cruz area.

Where else in the world can we comfortably stroll so many beaches, walk the dog in the Light House Field or along the marsh, ride horsback through the nearby redwood forests,or go kyaking in Elk Horn Slough? One of our continuing favorites is to watch the otters, birds, and sea lions play in the estuary while enjoying a fine dinner at the Fish Factory in Moss Landing.

A FABULOUS TIME IN THE COZY COTTAGE BY THE SEA.

  • 5 of 5
Four of us journeyed from afar to meet in a cottage near the sea. We had a fabulous time at this surprisingly centrally located property. Our one week living on Pleasure Point allowed us to play in many places. We visted San Francisco to drive through, saw the Aqaurium at Monterey, picniced under the tall redwoods in San Lorenzo Valley, kayaked in Elkhorn Slough and shopped for books in Santa Cruz. The property was older but well maintained and up to date.

We loved our front yard barbeque as much as our dinner on the houseboat at the Monterey Wharf. The kitchen was new, clean, and had the basics. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom a little larger than expected and the neighbors all quiet. The owner was prompt in replies and and accurately represented the property. All and all this was an excellent choice for our not quite annual get-to-gather. Lolly, Lindley, Ferd and Beth

GREAT STAY

  • 5 of 5
We recently stayed at the pleasure point beach cottage. The cottage was in a great location- 2 minute walk to the beach where surfers were out all day long. Great views from the beach, across to Capitola The cottage was large and spacious with equipment ready to use. We had the cottage with 2 bedrooms- one queen bed and the other with 2 single beds. All rooms were big and spacious. The kitchen was fully equipped with refrigerator, cooker, microwave etc. Large bathroom. Just 10 minute drive to the Santa Cruz boardwalk, which is brilliant. Seating area and barbecue outside was a lovely addition. Overall really enjoyed our stay.

EXTENDED WEEKEND WITH THE GIRLS

This place was super cozy and comfortable and being so close to the beach which was an added bonus. We walked the block and a half every morning to check out the surfers.

Owner's Response: I think the fresh smell of the ocean air and the sound of the crashing surf adds to the feeling of comfort and relaxation. It's an experience not to be missed!

FILTHY/OLD

  • 2 of 5
First I want to say I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the place when we showed up. First thing I did when I got there was swiffer the floors not once, not twice, but three times and still our feet were black. I have small kids and had to put blankets on the ground for them to play. When I showed up my feet slid on the ground from dirt. The kitchen it self was fine with the exception of the floors. There we dust bunny's and cob webs everywhere. I would like a refund for the cleaning fee since I had to clean up myself when I was there. Last thought, thank goodness there was enough swiffer stuff there cause I went through 14 wipes. Oh and the BBQ was completely caked on with old food that I had to clean. besides the place being super dirty some things we didn't like were the doors wouldn't even shut all the way. the floors are super load to walk on so if you have kids sleeping good luck. The master bedroom shares a wall with the neighbors family room so i hope you get quite neighbors. walls are paper thin. linen were like taking a trip back to 1985. The beds were super load and springy.
there is one thing we thought was great though and that is the location and thats why i give it 2 stars instead of 1. I would not ever stay here again.

Owner's Response: This tenant failed to mention, he damaged the laminate flooring; was nine hours late in departing, ignored the terms of the rental agreement; interfered with the cleaning crew; and inconvenienced the next guest. Unfortunately, negative comments and complaints don’t account for his irresponsible behavior.

A BIT MORE GUIDANCE...

  • 4 of 5
Great location and nice place. A few comments - it turned out to be quite cold in evening but it took us forever to locate the thermostat. Similarly, we had some trouble with the tv controls and had to guess what gets placed in what bin in Santa Cruz. A little sheet with some guidance to strangers on such matters would help.
