Cozy cottage with partial partial view of the harbor in Southwest Harbor, across the street from the path to the public Town Wharf (launch your kayak!) within walking distance of town and the in-season free Islander shuttle to Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, and other locations on Mt. Desert Island. New kitchen with gourmet stove. Dining room with gas log fireplace. The master bedroom has a view of the harbor with its lobster boats and pleasure craft, while the second bedroom has a twin bed that converts to two twins. Full bath with tub/shower. Additional commode in basement. Front deck for quiet evenings; front and backyards for watching the sky or cookouts. Wireless Internet connection!

Nearest Airport: Hancock County (Bar Harbor) Airport at 11 Miles

Southwest Harbor has art shops, shopping, restaurants, and various amenities of its own within walking distance. Bike to Wonderland or enchanting Seawall. Take the nearby and free Islander Shuttle in season to Acadia National Park and Cadillac Mountain, Bar Harbor, and a wonderful variety of sites. In Bar Harbor you can drive or walk out to Bar Island for hiking and wonderful views, but be sure to be back before the tide turns! A short drive takes you to Bass Head Light, among the most photographed objects on the North American continent. Rent a bicycle and take it with you on the ferry to explore Swan Island, Winter Harbor, Schoodic or the Cranberries. Rent a kayak or go on a guided kayak tour and make Mt. Desert a personal experience, afloat on Frenchman Bay at sunset.

  • July and August: $1,000/week plus 7% rental tax
    June, September and October $800/week plus 7% rental tax
    November through May, $220/week plus 7% rental tax (inquire about slightly higher rates for Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year's).

    Weekly rentals are Saturday to Saturday Check in 3 p.m. Check out 10 a.m.

    $300 Deposit due with reservation; total balance due two weeks before arrival.

    $200 Refund for early cancellation if the cottage can be re-rented
  • Call for special holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) rates.

Great Place to relax

This place was very clean and unique! We took my mom (elderly) and felt very comfortable there. The gas fireplace was just what we needed since the rains came for the second half of our stay. Quiet neighborhood, walk to center of town or lobster pound. Remember to duck coming down the staircase! LOL Thanks for the stay, will be back next year! Close to plenty of hiking trails, too!

My spouse and I stayed at the cottage (11 June-18 June, 2009). The house is sunny, warm and very comfortable. Beautiful framed photos (by the owner) cover the walls. The house has nice wood floors, upscale kitchen, harbor views with comfortable furnishings. The location is excellent; upscale, quiet harbor-side residential area. Short walk to shops and cafes. The owner provides information about the area. Hank is more than reasonable. He really wants his renters to have a nice vacation. His rental terms are far better than over 30 other comparable properties I researched. There is a local caretaker in case of any immediate questions or problems. The property is in excellent condition. I definitely would recommend this property to a friend. I feel very lucky we were able to have such an excellent rental in this area.
