MT Views - Conveniently located 1 mile from Stowe's ski lifts and 4.5 miles from Stowe village near the top of Stowe's famous recreational path. Tennis, rollerblading, horseback riding, dining, and a four star spa resort are 1/2 mile away.
This bright, open, yet comfy 4 yr old home is vacation-perfect with mountain views in a private wooded glade. The main level has a sociable open floor plan with an eat-in kitchen with a gas range adjacent to the living room. Rustic exposed beams, a brick fireplace, and decor from around the world, make for a charming atmosphere. Large south facing windows bring the outside to you while you cozy up to the fire. You won't be able to see any other buildings around, but you will see birds, deer, squirrels, turkeys, and maybe Byron the shy moose will come to check on you.
I built this place in 2001, with the wood from the trees we cleared to build our home. I live here with one of my son's in high school, and the other is at college. I'm an author with about 20 non-fiction books out... many of them are award winners. www.janreynolds.com is my site.
Jan Reynolds purchased this house in 2001
The location is everything both summer and winter. We are at the base of Mount Mansfield, and on the bike path, and x-c trails, and mountain bike trails, next to Smugglers Notch for hiking and foliage viewing, and of course the skiing and hiking on Mount Mansfield itself. At the base of our drive is the famed Matternorn bar, so you can eat out, play pool, party down, AND NEVER HAVE TO DRIVE! That's the cool thing about this place, you can hike, bike, ski and party at a fun bar, and NEVER DRIVE... once you get here, it's bliss, even Top Notch with all the fancy spa amenities, is only 1/2 mile away, you can walk, bike, or ski there, or take the shuttle....
This place is totally in the woods, you look out and see trees, or snow covered woods...that's nice....
1/2 mile from groomed ski touring (Mansfield Touring Center) or cross country ski out the back door to reach Top-Notch or Edson Hill touring centers. Walk down our 500 ft. driveway to catch the shuttle bus to the mountain for amazing alpine skiing, or village, or saunter over to the Matterhorn Bar and Grill for pizza, sushi, and refreshment. The Matterhorn offers bands and a dance floor, and was ranked by Skiing magazine as America's number one apres ski bar, but it also is kid friendly with pool tables, video games, and a smoke free sushi bar. Close to Stowe's famous recreation path, nature lovers can snowshoe, hike, ski, ride, and enjoy fine dining, and night life all within 1 mile. A convenience store is located 1/4 mile
