Overview

Cape May Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Casual style-bright, breezy rooms and just a block from the beach. Perfect!

Only one block to the beach and yet right in the center of the historic district, the Abigail Adams is located in the historic James Leaming House, one of Cape May's most whimsical Victorian gingerbread houses.

The Garden Apartment is located on the first floor overlooking the back garden. It has a private entrance and is furnished in bright and breezy colors with an updated kitchen and bath. It is air conditioned and has cable TV and DVD and wireless internet access.

The bedroom has a comfy queen size bed and the room is decorated in shades of blue and pale yellow. The bathroom is conveniently located just off the bedroom and it has a toilet, sink and enclosed shower.

The living room has original pine flooring and is also decorated in blue and yellow but with a few touches of red. It has a full size sofabed as well as several chairs, tables and the TV/DVD player.

The brightly covered kitchen table is located at the end of that room and seats 4. It opens out to the glass doored and open shelved gallery kitchen that is fully equipped with refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee pot and toaster. It also has plenty of pots and pans, cutlery, dishes and glassware. The kitchen window overlooks the back garden.

Walking out the door and through the wooden gate to the right is the shaded lawn and flower garden. Depending on the season, the blue, pink and white hydrangeas offer a wonderful backdrop to a relaxing morning coffee or a cold drink in the afternoon. There is also a gas grill and a picnic table and chairs for dining outside.

We provide free beach tags for our guests as well as free permit parking available at our offsite lot.

A short walk down Decatur Street will take you to the nicest beaches in town. After a full day at the beach you can enjoy a wonderful meal at one of our many fine Cape May restaurants or throw some steaks on the BBQ and chill out in the comfort of your own garden hideaway.

Park your car in our convenient lot on Bank Street and then everything is within easy walking distance. Bring your bicycles or rent one and take a ride out to our famous bird observatory at the Point or have lunch at Sunset Beach and watch the dolphins play in the surf.

You just couldn't pick a better location than Decatur Street if you want to be close to the beach but also surround yourself with the Victorian ambience of Cape May.

Guests' comments: 'The living room/kitchen and separate bedroom and bath were very neat and clean and beautifully furnished and had everything I wanted for my week's stay. The location can't be beat..just two properties from the village mall and a quick walk to the beach...' Marilyn, NE PA

Give us a call today to reserve your special vacation week or weekend at the beach. See you soon!

Guestbook comments from the owner

“Amazing!”

Reviewed June 18, 2012 NEW

My family of four (2 adults and 2 teenagers) recently rented the garden apartment. The apartment was not only adorable, but well maintainted and spotlessly clean. Though we didn't use it much, the kitchen was equipped with everything we could possibly need and more. There was even a BBQ grill in the back yard! My kids were thrilled that it not only had a dvd player, but free wi-fi. I initially thought parking was going to be a concern, but once we parked the car, we only needed it once to go to the laundromat. The location was amazing! Only a block from shopping, restaurants and the grocery store. The trolley tour pick-up/drop-off location and bike rentals were also within a short walking distance. We loved that the beach was just a couple of blocks away as well. Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay. The owner was very friendly and accomodating, even checking on us to see if we needed anything. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Cape May.

Lovely place!

  • 5 of 5

The garden apartment was absolutely perfect for my stay over Columbus Day weekend. I had a wedding at Congress Hall, which along with almost everything else in Cape May, was within walking distance of the apartment. Kate was as helpful as can be with everything from my last-minute addition of a guest who needed the pull-out couch to just being there for questions on local happenings. The apartment itself had a comfortable bed, kitchenette that served all our needs, and was off the street in the rear of the property for quiet at night. I'd definitely stay at the garden apartment again. Thanks Kate!

Fabulous location, super convenient

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about how great this location is. It's super close to the beach and to Washington Street Mall. The home is beautiful. We stayed in the garden apartment with our two young boys. It's small, but there was enough room for everyone. There is a nice little garden area where you can grill and dine outdoors. It's a huge bonus that beach tags and parking for one vehicle was included. Kate was lovely to deal with. I would definitely rent here again.

Fabulous vacation

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I took a mini vacation and stayed at the Abigail Adams garden apt.

Kate couldn't have been nicer and more accomodating with setting up our arrival and departure . The apt was just perfect for the three of us. It was so warm and cozy and spotless. Both the bed and pull out sofa were very comfortable. The kitchen was just big enough. And the bathroom was very nice. The living room was cozy too. The backyard garden was beautiful for our lobsterfest which was yummy! The location of the apt couldn't have been better! It is only a 1/2 block to the Washington mall---what more could you ask for...,Kate was very gracious and we enjoyed meeting her! All in all we had a terrific time and we would highly recommend the Abigail Adams garden apts. on Decatur st. I can promise you ..you will not be disappointed!!!!!

Adorable getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I couldn't have asked for a nicer owner or a more relaxing place to stay. Located in the heart of Cape May, we could easily walk to the beach (2 blocks) or to the walking mall ( 1 block!). The garden apartment has a cute kitchen, living room and super comfortable bed. We enjoyed the backyard garden each morning and evening, while relaxing and feeling like locals! We highly recommend this rental as we live in the DC area and appreciated getting away while being able to walk to everything we wanted to enjoy! It’s private, quiet and clean.

Great place in Cape May

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the first floor garden apartment. It is a very nice albeit small apartment, well furnished, in a beautiful historic house only a couple of doors down from the downtown pedestrian mall and a short walk (one block) from the beach. The reservations/financials/check in were all efficiently done by the amicable owner. The listing description is accurate as are the photos. In a quiet, beautiful neighborhood. Much is within sort walking distance.

Some disadvantages:

1) Parking is several (3?) blocks away. About a ten minute walk to an unsupervised lot at the very edge of town.

2) The kitchen is less furnished that most VRBO's I've rented. I.e., bring your own salt and pepper, cutting boards, etc

3) The couch when opened to a second bed nearly reaches the opposite wall. You need to turn sideways to walk by.

4) The wifi is weak. It worked for our daughter's notebook for the most part but only very briefly for our iPads and not at all for the iPhones.

Would I stay here again? Absolutely!!!! A delightful place, wonderful garden, pleasant owner, great setting.

Great spot in center of everything

  • 5 of 5

These apartments are very centrally located and were perfect for our stay in Cape May. Close to the beach, right in town, and included parking and beach passes. Not sure what else I could ask for.Only other thing I'd add is that the upper level apartment has a bit of a steep/narrow staircase so it might not be a great idea for a disabled individual or someone with mobility problems. Kate, the owner, was very nice and helped us with any questions. Hope to return soon.

Map

Gas lit streets, the clip-clop of carriage horses, the scent of Victorian privet hedges and roses spilling out through ornate wrought iron fences--this is Cape May. But Cape May is also family fun at the beach, put-put golf, surrey bikes for the whole crew, gourmet popcorn and every variety of fudge and salt water taffy you can think of. Your summer apartment on Decatur Street is right in the middle of all that Cape May has to offer. An ideal location to explore, have fun and then to chill out.
