THE ABBEY HOUSE

Capena Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Farmhouse, 7 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 4 Baths, (Sleeps 14)

Welcome to the Abbey House, a farmhouse with a garden and a private swimming pool for your exclusive use only, comfortable and relaxing. The Abbey House is a perfect starting point to discover Rome, Perugia, Assisi, Orvieto and the other art towns of Latium and Umbria through daily trips. The House is only 20 km from the A1 exit of Ponzano Romano. Rome is 40 km away and it’s reachable by road, railway (10 minutes from the house on the train to Fiumicino Airport). Umbria is 40 km away and also connected by train; Florence is a beautiful 2.5 hours drive.

Closer to the Abbey House, within a 30 km radius you will find many medieval villages, castles, woods, lakes and rivers, natural parks and museums, in a landscape “full of surprises”. At your arrival we will give you a detailed map to discover an unknown and surprising Sabina. Those who prefer walking can reach the Sabini mountains in 10 minutes.

Even closer, a 500 meters walk takes you to the Farfa Abbey and its very rich library in a quaint medieval village. There, you can taste the famous monks’ chocolate and do unique shopping of local arts and crafts. Several other walks or mountain bike rides are available nearby, fish in the Lake of Farfa, play tennis, or shop in Poggio Mirteto and savour great local food and wine at the local restaurants and trattorias

At the Abbey House: indoor and outdoor spaces has been designed in order to give our guests maximum comfort. The views are fantastic and the olive trees grove produces great oil that you can use to cook in your apartment’s kitchen.

The Abbey House has 5 double bedrooms, 2 living rooms with a double sofa-bed and a common living room with a 14-seat table, fireplace and sofas. As an extra bonus, your hosts run a kites and juggling lab and the well-known Modern Automata Museum in the nearby Montopoli village, free for the house guests.

A FANTASTIC STAY IN ITALY

  • 5 of 5
Our stay at the Abbey House was everything we hoped for. Guido was excellent. We arrived late (getting a bit lost from the Rome airport) and when he found out we did not have supper made sure we had some pizza and wine before he showed us the house. We were 3 couples and two singles and the house was more than enough room and helped make our first trip to Italy one to remember. We cooked most of our meals at the house and enjoyed the large dining room table and fireplace. It was a great location, a bit out of the way in a beautiful country side (car needed) and was convenient for us to visit Rome, Italy and many points in-between.

FAMILY VACATION

  • 5 of 5
Beautiful home with everything you need to relax and enjoy the italian countryside. Farfa lets you experience Italy off the beaten track of the larger cities, no tourist traps here. Easy access to small towns and a half hour ride to commuter train into Rome. Great restaurants that are worth trying while staying at the Abbey House, providing local specialties that will satisfy your appetite, include Il Cantinone in Castelnuovo de Farfa, Home has beautiful views and refreshing pool. Don't forget to make a stop on Fridays and Saturdays to the Macelleria (butcher) just down the road from the Abbey House where you can find not only the finest meats but also very fresh! Guido was very helpful and available to answer any questions through out the trip. Plenty of room for family of 10. Would highly recommend to anyone!

ITALY COUNTRYSIDE, MAY 2011

  • 5 of 5
We loved our stay at Guido's country home. It was very much like the pictures, clean, neat and very comfortable. We loved coming home from Rome each night to the quiet calm of the beautiful Italian countryside. Guido had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. He was very friendly and helpful and we loved looking at his Automata museum. We drove 30-45 minutes to the Rietta subway station each morning to travel into the sites of Rome. The Abbey is up the hill about 1/2 mile away with cute little artist shops and a couple of places to eat in the morning and possibly the evening. The grocery store is in Montopoli about 10-15 minutes away. It was a great trip and we would love to return.
Thank you, Guido!

ACCURATE DESCRIPTION

  • 5 of 5
Clean, rustic farmhouse style with all conveniences in a rural setting and wonderful peaceful views - dining inside and outside to enjoy the view. Must have car. Convenient for many day trips and train station to Rome. We were a family of 11 staying for a summer month in 2010 - large rooms, nice baths. Guido introduced us to all necessary locations for things we would need and was very responsive when we had questions. There were no disappointments. We all would like to return.
