Guestbook comments from the owner
Hello. I am one of the owners. Thanks for your interest in this house. My husband and I bought it last July 2004 as an eventual retirement home. It was marketed by the previous owners as Eastview Cottage through Hearts of Maine. If you rented it before, we hope you will try it again. We have kept the name but have upgraded lots of the furnishings and equipment. This winter we are having a full interior staircase built to the bunkroom over the master bedroom and are adding a waterside deck and staircase down to the water. As new owners, we are interested in providing whatever renters desire -- within reason, so please ask. We love the house and think you will too.
Stu, in the photo, is a retired Coast Guard officer, who enjoyed the icebreaker service for 22 years. He became a veterinarian at age 50 and now practices small animal medicine and raises Icelandic Sheepdogs. Our bitch, Runa, is in the rowing shell with him offshore of the house. Debbie was a Washington lawyer for 20 years before taking up sheep farming. Now she manages the farm and renting the Maine house until she and Stu retire up there.
We bought this house after vacationing in Maine each fall for 25 years. We choose it because it is beyond the traffic to Bar Harbor, but close enough for a day trip. It has the required spectacular view from every room of the ocean that included islands. It is also on 2 miles of nearly desserted beach yet near a 'real' town, i.e. one with a hardware store and a lobster coop. It is also near a hospital and a small university. Perfect for us.
