This large stretch of sandy beach in Maine has breathtaking sunrises over Prout's Neck and the ocean in the summer months. Low tide is the best time to find sanddollars and other precious shells, and the occasional seal will pop its head up to say hello. Riding the waves on a boogie board is not to be missed.
Pine Point is located 20 minutes from Portland, which offers restaurants, shopping in the historic Old Port area, art museums, galleries, and ferry boats to the Casco Bay Islands. Portland is home to the SeaDogs, the Boston Red Sox minor league team.
Maine Audubon Scarborough Marsh Nature Center is minutes away and offers canoe rentals, and is also a favorite of kayakers and birdwatchers. Walking trails are free and open to the public in this salt water marsh, which also provides guided tours. Nearby are family amusement parks Funtown and Splashtown , golf courses (7), deep sea fishing trips, whale watching trips, Scarborough Downs racetrack, and the lobster pound.
