This cozy cottage is near Charlestown Beach, in one of the quieter Rhode Island Shore towns. Bright rooms, updated kitchen, screened-in porch. It is just around the corner from Green Hill pond where you can swim, kayak, canoe, or just watch the geese. About a mile away is Charlestown Beach. Beach parking pass provided for Charlestown Beach and Blue Shutters Beach. Walking distance to clam shack, deli with seafood market, ice cream, bakery, art gallery, more. Charlestown offers a welcome alternative to the hustle and bustle of larger New England destinations. Burlingame State Park and Ninigret Wildlife Refuge are close by. Hiking and biking trails are well within driving distance. For more 'urban pursuits' Charlestown is under an hour driving distance from Mystic Seaport, Foxwoods Casino, Newport and an hour to Providence.

I had a great week at this property. It was great that I could find a house that would let me bring my dog. We had to go in the off-season, otherwise the beaches would be off limits with the dog. The fenced in backyard will keep your dog from getting loose, and there were even food and water bowls available to use. There were maps and books listing things to do, as well as books to read, some DVDs, jig saw puzzles and board games for those rainy days. Newport and Jamestown are about 45 minutes away, Point Judith is about 30 minutes, and Watch Hill is about 30 minutes. I am looking forward to returning next year.
Owner's Response: We are definitely pet-friendly! There are also great hiking trails for you and your dog about 30-40 minutes from the cottage.

A great 4th of July

This is a charming cottage. We stayed there during the week of July 4th and had a great time. My wife, two daughters, 1 and 4 year old, and our choc. lab. Great swimming for the dog, nice safe street for stroller walks and bike rides. Very short ride to the beach, and other attractions. The house was roomy enough for all of us and very clean. Dog friendly is an understatement. The house included dog bowls, bones and toys! Thanks for a great week.
Owner's Response: We do take pleasure in offering a spot for well-behaved dogs (and their humans!) to vacation. We hope to add a half-bath and roof deck for the 2010 season, too.

my stay in rhode island

i thought the house was nice..the garden was very good and the fact that i could take my dogs was a real bonus....the only thing i didnt like was the area.....maybe i went when it was sort of out of season but it was so dead...there wasnt much to do , there was very few people around and to be honest i was scared at night where it was so quiet... but saying all that it is a nice house ,everything is in it you could need but just too quiet for me.............
Owner's Response: Agreed, the area is very quiet and "away from it all," particularly off-season. You will need a car if you are looking for more action, but there is lots to do about 30 minutes drive away.

Relaxing Beach Getaway

A great place to be where you can relax in a quiet neighborhood and go to a beautiful beach. Close to many great places like Providence Zoo, Newport, Point Judith and all of the many beautiful scenic beaches and parks in Rhode Island. The house is very nice and located in a quiet neighborhood. I would recommend renting this house for a nice vacation.

Perfect Getaway

We found our stay at this cottage to be the perfect getaway for our family (with dog). The cottage is clean and comfortable and accessible to all the things we wanted to do - quiet day at the beach; beautiful day cycling on Block Island; and full day taking in the Newport mansions, shops and restaurants. The owners also left a wealth of information about surrounding activities. We will be back so we can attempt the many hiling trails they recommended!!
