Want a clean, nicely furnished house with a short walk to the beach? You found it! No beach passes needed or parking lot fees to pay as Scarborough Beach is one block (2/10 of a mile) away. You can see the ocean from the front porch steps and one bedroom and when surf is strong you can hear it from the east bedroom at night. The bath & kitchen have been modernized. The living room is furnished with comfortable upholstered furniture & our three spacious BR's have Queen size beds and the cottage charm of original wood planked ceilings. Lots of recent renovations to flooring, lighting and newly redecorated bedrooms, compliment the exterior upgrades (new roof, siding, windows and trex deck) made recently. WE ARE CLOSE TO THE OCEAN AND THE BEACH!

Narragansett has several great beaches to explore. Scarborough (which is the closest to the house at 2/10 mile) offers body surfing and boogie-board riding on it's rolling surf. This is a state beach. It has concession stands & bath house with toilets. Roger Wheeler Beach (also known as Sand Hill Cove) is two miles away and has gentler waves for the timid, a playground and craft time for the toddlers. Narragansett Town Beach is approx. one mile away. The area is great for bike riding, walking or jogging. Deep sea fishing charters, the Block Island Ferry and fish markets are a 5 minute car ride away in the fishing port called Galilee. Explore Newport and tour the mansions or walk the cobblestone wharfs. Shopping and restaurants galore! Nearby the house are many family and upscale restaurants, as well as supermarkets, ice cream parlors, movie theatres and a bowling alley. Adventureland for children of all ages offers batting cages, go-carts and minigolf to keep the kids happy.

Homeowner managed.: This house is managed and rented by the homeowner, not a rental agency. All communication is direct with the homeowner. Each spring the house is scrubbed. All furniture is moved and bedding and curtains are aired or laundered as appropriate. We check on the house between renters each Saturday for the benefit of the renter leaving and the guest arriving. Yes, we really drive up to RI every week. You will notice the many personal touches throughout our home. Our home is Not appropriate for Large Gatherings such as Family Reunions, hosting celebrations or for groups of singles; Our Rental Agreement Prohibits such use.

Other places to explore and beach info: Wickford Village: Approx 20 minutes away is a quaint town with marina, shops and restaurants. Watch Hill: Approx 30 minutes away has a antique carousel, shops and restaurants. Roger Williams Zoo. Bristol/Tiverton/Little Compton: Lots of shops, restaurants and visit Sakonnet Vineyards/Winery along the way. Scarborough is a state operated beach with rolling surf, bath house and concession stand. The beach is sandy (not rocky) with covered pavilions and some picnic tables. The beach is a short walk from the house and you can see a glimpse of the ocean from the front porch of the house. Some nights if the surf is strong, you can hear the waves from the bedrooms.

International Renter And Long Distance Info.: This is a self housekeeping unit. Most of our renters live locally and bring their own linens and towels. These can be provided for international or long distance renters but a laundering fee applies. If you prefer not to self clean at departure, a cleaning service can be hired. Please inquire. You will make up your own beds upon arrival and remove linens at departure. A few beach items can also be arranged for your use for people flying into the area. Payment: Payment by bank check in US $ Or For ease of currency conversion, international renters can pay with credit card through PayPal. A service fee of 4% applies to cover fees and cross border fees PayPal charges us. Your security deposit will be refunded through PayPal as well. Paypal option for international renters only.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the "Lucky Break". What a beautiful cottage!! Fully applianced kitchen made it nice to cook and the side deck was very pleasant to sit in the sun. Walks to the beach and surrounding areas were wonderful. Wish it could have been a bit warmer but we did get to sit on the beach a few hours on Memorial Day. It was heaven. We cooked on the grill and had a great time. The beds were very comfortable. We would recommend this cottage to anyone as it was very comfy and nice. We may decide to return in the fall.

Two days into our two week stay at this home, my wife said she'd return to this home any time, whenever I want! It was cozy, clean, quiet, and well appointed. We became completely absorbed in daily swims at the beach, walking around the Black Point trail (about 40 minutes' circuit from Walcott Ave), and enjoying key lime pies from nearby Aunt Carrie's. The area attractions that most captured us were artist Gilbert Stuart's birthplace, Block Island, Mystic Seaport, the Hereshoff Museum in Bristol, a lecture on Klimt at RISD in Providence, and an old stone tower (? antedating Columbus' arrival) in Touro Park, Newport. Plus the deer, rabbits, ospreys, goldfinches, and tanagers.

Great Vacation

This property was perfect. The house was spotless and had all the comforts of home. We loved the outside shower and the beautiful deck. We used the grill frequently for barbeques and quick meals.
The bedrooms were comfortable and large. My kids brought their computers and the wireless access allowed them to talk to their friends back home.
We spent a day in nearby Newport - which was a great place to see and the one rainy day we drove into Providence and spent the day at the mall - Providence Place - a teenagers paradis!
Judy was a great renter. She quickly answered all my questions and was frequenly in contact with me about deadlines. We can't wait to go back again next year!

Thanks for a terrific family vacation!

Lucky Break is a great place to stay. Very clean and very comfortable. It is a very short walk to Scarborough beach and also a nice bike ride to the Block Island ferry. All the pictures you see on the web site are what the house looks like and the Marusa's are great homeowners and very easy to contact with great communication if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to my next vacation at Lucky Break next July. Also, if you stay in the washer/dryer BR you can hear the waves at the beach at nite and that makes the stay that much more relaxing!!

The Lucky Break is an incredible beach cottage. We've rented houses in RI many times but this was the first time that the interior of the house looked exactly like the photographs! We couldn't have been happier. Bright, clean and comfortable as well as a great location put the Lucky Break at the top of our list of places to stay in Rhode Island!
