Should you venture beyond Indian Point and Bowsprit, you can drive to Boothbay Harbor for a windjammer cruise, a tour of the botanical garden, or shopping the boutiques. For a shopping adventure, check out LLBean and the outlets in Freeport, which is 40 minutes away. An hour away, you can sample the cuisines of historic Old Port in Portland.

Closer by, visit the famous Maine Maritime Museum next to the shipyard, attend a concert or music theatre, enjoy the scenic train to the Farnsworth in Rockland, charter a fishing boat, or visit dozens of studios, galleries and antique shops.

Gorgeous summer getaway

Bowsprint cottage was everything we had hoped for. The views from the main living and eating area are amazing -- a beautiful view of the ocean on all three sides, with floor to ceiling windows. It does feel like sitting in the bow of a boat! The cottage itself was comfortable for our entire family.

Our oldest son loved being right on the rocks, and he would walk on the rocks down to the private beach (which can also be accessed via a five-minute walk on the regular road). The one thing I would caution is that we had to be really mindful of our toddler, because the small grassy yard is not fenced in, and he would run straight for the rocks (which are great for an 8-year old but dangerous for a solo 2-year old).
The manager of the property, Kelly, was awesome and accomodating! In sum, I would definitely rent this place again.

Amazing coast views!

We loved the cottage, Bowsprit has amazing views, words can't describe it. Our stay was great, Bath is not to far away either. Only down side for us, since we traveled so far away, we couldn't pack linens, (bed sheets, bath towels/cloths) so we had to pay for linens, sadly it was only one towel and cloth for 7 days, so we had to go out and buy extra clothes and towels after paying for linens. Next time we have to get a place where this is included and would have enough for a weeks stay. Besides that, it's a great place for someone who lives close by.

A Perfect Represetative of Maine

We just spent our third year at Bowsprit Cottage. Each year, it gets better and better. The views are spectacular, the house is clean and welcoming. Since our first year, we feel like we are coming home!
The house lost power this year during our stay. We didn't even notice! The television is never on, the views are too captivating. With the gas stove and fireplace, we were warm and fed. Kelly checked on us, and the book that is left on the table explains where to find candles, water, and a radio. It made the stay even more charming. We watched the storm roll in through the windows in the living room..spectacular! And if you choose to leave all this splendor, there are so many things to do within a short driving or walking distance. This is truly heaven on earth! We will be back next year!!

Ideal September getaway

We had great expectations for this place; if anything they were exceeded. The house was clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was also very quiet and remarkably private, considering the relative proximity of other properties. The views are outstanding. As others remarked, the photos can't do them justice. Walking in the Indian Point area was a great pleasure with some of the most beautiful and interesting bits of the Maine coast I've seen in one area. We've vacationed up and down the coast for many years and this was the nicest place yet. We liked the Five Islands Farm for convenience, with high quality local produce, meat & oysters.
We definitely hope to return & felt it was well worth the rates.

Maine at its best.....in October

The home was warm, welcoming, and best of all spotless. The owners went the extra mile to provide all the necessary information and accomodations to make our vacation perfect. The description on-line is perfect, but the beauty and peace are beyond description. The gas fireplace was a perfect touch. The stars seemed to be just an arms length away. Bowsprit is a perfect place to get away from it all and admire nature at its best. Since our stay was in October we had limited choices of restaurants, due to them being closed for the season. But, we loved every minute of our time at this wonderful home. Thanks for the hospitality.
