This is a delightful 1,380 square foot house on a pretty village street, just a stone's throw from Padanaram's inner harbor. Expansive water views from living room, upstairs bedroom and deck are of sunsets, sailboats, and seabirds. A large private backyard invites barbecuing and picnics. House is available from mid-May through mid-October.

The first floor has a spacious living room with water view, dining room with fireplace, air-conditioned bedroom with queen-size bed, cheerful kitchen, and full bathroom. The air-conditioned second floor has a full-size bed, a full-size futon, a twin bed, and a writing desk alcove. The second-floor deck is a great place for relaxing in ocean breezes, reading books, watching birds, or taking in spectacular sunsets.

Hot outdoor shower is a convenience after a day at the beach. The house is a five-minute walk to the charming village of Padanaram and a fifteen-minute walk to the Padanaram village beach. Round Hill Beach is a ten-minute drive away.

Active Sports: Kayaks and canoes can be launched at the foot of the street. Small boats can be launched at nearby town facilities. Cycling is delightful in Padanaram and the larger South Dartmouth area. Nearby beaches invite ocean swimming.

Auto Touring: There are delightful back road trips to historic Massachusetts south coast villages. The old roads pass by farms, stone walls, Quaker meeting houses and historic country stores. In addition, the beautiful Rhode Island countryside is only a 30-45 minute drive. Maps and suggested road trips are available at the house and at Village shops.

Ferry and Boat Rides: From the New Bedford pier, one can take a sightseeing tour of the active New Bedford fishing port including its world-famous hurricane wall. Also from New Bedford there are day trips available to the quiet, unspoiled tiny island of Cuttyhunk. And, there is ferry service from New Bedford to Martha's Vineyard if one wishes to take a special day trip.

Leave your car in the driveway and enjoy a village location that's great for walking and biking. Boat launches are nearby, and ocean beaches (Round Hill and Horseneck) are a short drive away. The coastal area abounds with nature reserves and hiking trails, and ferry trips can be taken to Cuttyhunk and Martha's Vineyard. Good restaurants are plentiful, charter fishing is available, and the New Bedford Whaling Museum is great for a rainy day. New Bedford, one of America's largest fishing ports, offers harbor tours and waterfront walks. It is also the site of several historic houses from America's whaling era that are open for tours.

We are staying at Gladys Street for two weeks. The house exceeded our expectations. It is clean, well decorated, beds and linens are comfortable and a great selection of good quality cookware. The yard is beautiful, our family is very pleased and we will likely return next year. Weather is cool and rainy so beach will likely have to wait until next year. No problems, this is a great base for day trips to Boston (approx 1-1.5 hour drive) and Cape Cod.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
