Labor Day Weekend

  • 5 of 5
We loved it! The photos do not do the cabin justice. The kitchen is perfect to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, the upstairs bed was sooo comfortable and the cabin was decorated so nicely. Everything was so wonderful and we were so sad to leave. It was so peaceful, the hammock was so relaxing. Sitting on the front porch in the early hours was so nice. We especially enjoyed hearing the river. We will definately be back. The road up was such an adventure and we are so glad we brought the Tahoe! This cabin is so relaxing and so romantic. You feel like there is no one else around. It was so difficult to actually venture out and visit the area because we didn't want to leave the cabin.

Fantastic secluded cabin.

  • 5 of 5
This cabin was fantastic. It was closely located between Asheville and Weaverville, which is where we spent most of our days. The home owner is easy to reach and gives very good directions.

The interior of the cabin is charming and cozy, with a very spacious bathroom and loft. The front porch and hot tub deck both have a beautiful view day or night. The kitchen had all of the appliances and smallwares we needed, including a coffee maker and filters. There are 2 refrigerators and a washer and dryer.

The television is brand new. We didn't use it though, so I don't know what tv service the cabin has. There is also a DVD player and wireless internet.

The cabin is literally on top of a hill, and the access road does seem steep. Don't be worried. It is easy to drive up, even in a full size sedan with bald rear tires and v-6.

Absolutely perfect!!

  • 5 of 5
My boyfriend and I chose this cabin after pouring over 100's of options on VRBO for weeks. We were so happy with our choice. Quintessential is the perfect adjective for this place. We couldn't have asked for anything more. No neighbors. No noise or light pollution. No need for a clock. The location in relation to downtown Asheville couldn't have been better. We enjoyed the drive along the river every time we went into town. We loved the second floor of the cabin. It was like sleeping in a tree house. (a very comfortable one!!) The kitchen was perfect for cooking eggs and bacon in the morning or heating up our leftovers from the amazing restaurants in Asheville. We were a little early for the fall color but it didn't bother us in the least. I really can't say enough about this magical little place. We will be back for sure. Hopefully next time we can stay for a week. Thanks so much June for your hospitality!

Wonderful, quite and relaxing stay!

  • 5 of 5
The cabin was exactly as stated- very clean and the bed was just fine! The road up to it is steep but June had given us plenty of warning about the best way to get up the road. I never had to put my SUV into 4WD even with some rain. We loved our stay and would definitely stay again!

Great cabin, but mixed feelings

  • 4 of 5
We (two adults and two kids under 10) stayed at the cabin for three nights in April. We have mixed feelings about our stay. On the positive side, the cabin is well equipped (a great kitchen); it's cosy; the spa is fantastic; the features are nice (such as including boardgames, a record LP collection, books and magazines, the swing hammock; etc); the gas barbecue outside; and the wi-fi. All of these things were great and we were very happy with them. It was a great getaway and well located off the beaten track.

However, on the negative side: (1) BOTH the beds were incredibly uncomfortable. They sagged horribly into the middle, and we had three nights of very poor sleep as we kept falling into the middle. We started in the downstairs bed (with the kids upstairs in the loft), but we swapped after the first night. It didn't make much difference - the upstairs bed wasn't much better. On the morning we checked out, I looked under the bed to see if we'd dropped or forgotten anything, and I noticed that someone (either the owners or a previous occupant) had stacked a pile of books up underneath the middle of the bed in an attempt to prop it up. So, we obviously weren't the first people to notice this!

(2) One of the reasons we chose this cabin was because it was listed and advertised as having air-conditioning. We arrived on our first day (which was quite warm for April) & the upstairs loft was incredibly hot and stuffy. However, there was no air-conditioner. We contacted the owners, who advised that they only install the air conditioner in the warmer months, i.e. from mid-May. My wife was very angry about this, as she chose the cabin specifically for its air-conditioning. If you only install the air-conditioner for a few months of the year, then you should put this in the listing.

(3) The television is an old unit with broken buttons and switches. We were informed by the owners on our arrival that the Direct TV had an outage in the area. Okay, that's fine - there's nothing they could do about that, and we have no problem with that. However, we couldn't get anything else to work. The ROKU unit wouldn't work (we spent HOURS trying to tune and connect it, without luck, even after getting additional instructions from the owners), and - when all was said and done - we simply couldn't make use of the television in any way.

These are all little things, but they played on our mind and affected the enjoyment of our stay, hence our mixed feelings.
