great place, bargain

Review Submitted: August 26, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This little house is a fantastic place to stay, and a bargain in Williamstown. My only added information is that if you pan the camera 5 degrees to the left in the photos above, you would be looking straight down route 7. Most rental properties and motels in the area are one of the larger roads, it's kind of a fact of life. There is no traffic at night, so its no problem then, but there can be some traffic during the day.
Right across route 7 from here is a little park with walking trails, and a small swimming pond. There is tons of hiking in the area, a few places to swim in a creek, lots of cultural institutions in the area. We were welcome to use the facilities at the motel next door, (same owner) including a warm pool. Mostly they just gave us the keys and left us alone. This house has two bedrooms on the ground floor, each with a full bathroom, and 2 more bedrooms and a sitting room on the second floor. The second floor has a semi-finished half bath, good for night time visits and tooth brushing. A New York style efficiency kitchen was great for making breakfast and dinners.
Like I said, this place is a bargain. It has beds enough to sleep 7, and a (fold out?) loveseat upstairs. It was very comfortably furnished, it has a washer dryer and a dishwasher, lots of dishes, pots and pans, and the owners were always available if we needed anything. highly recommend.

Cozy farmhouse

Review Submitted: July 15, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We rented for 3 weeks in June and were very comfortable here. The kids (two teenagers) enjoyed the motel pool, and the motel owners were very helpful and welcoming. Guests have access to the motel grounds which border the brook and are lovely and peaceful, with places to sit and relax. We also had a nice time exploring the park across the street.

The property was clean when we arrived, but being an old house, it gave access to a few spiders which we chased out with a broom. The fireflies on the lawn at night made up for them.

The kitchen is small, but adequate and we were able to entertain guests for lunch. We saved money on restaurant meals as well. The dishwasher assures that Mom has a vacation, too! Housekeeping was available, but the place is compact and easy to keep tidy.

The location is convenient to many attractions in the Berkshires and southern Vermont. The kids' favorite museum was Animagic, the Museum of Animation and Special Effects in Lee. They got to make their own animated videos! My husband and I appreciated the Clark Institute in Williamstown, just a couple of miles away.

The only real drawback was that the house sits just a few feet from Route 7, which is a busy highway. Sitting on the porch with my coffee in the morning, I often thought a little place in Manhattan would be quieter. However, the traffic dies down at night, and the trucks don't seem to run on the weekends. Since we used the house mostly as a base for day trips, we didn't really mind, but I wouldn't recommend it for people seeking total quiet. On the other hand, the soothing sound of running water is just a few steps away.

The price was very reasonable, and all in all we were quite happy here and would probably rent again.
