Beautiful newly restored house centrally located with easy access to restaurants, beaches, bike trail, shopping, and nature preserves. Beautiful house but comfortable for families.
Three acre property with large private (in back of house) lawn, creek, barn, and outdoor shower. Spacious, comfortable, and light-filled rooms including three large bedrooms, a bedroom/study, large dining room (with sit down dining capacity for 12 people) , living room, an eat-in kitchen (also seats 8-10) with all new appliances (gas cooking, large oven) and French doors, two bathrooms and outdoor shower. Large open yard and wooded lot, with parking for 4 or more cars. There is no airconditioning because the house is old but the rooms are cool and breezy.
You may also see more photos of the house on the blog Designskool.com, done by my neice Justine Hand.
I was born and grew up in Orleans, and after serving as Head of School for Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, MA, I retired in 2008 and moved back to the Cape full time. I work now as a consultant in arts education and organizational development.

This property is just down the road from the house in which I grew up on Rock Harbor. May family has owned that house for over 150 years, This house is an old sea captain's house, built in 1830, just down the road from my childhood home. It is in an historic district of the town. My partner and I have restored the house so that it is comfortable, has modern amenities such as a new kitchen, yet retains its chracter as an historic house.
It is a charming old house, but comfortable for families. I have grandchildren so I know from experience that the house is good for all ages!
We loves staying at the home- very clean and many antique touches. We enjoyed the extensive collection of great books for the beach. The kitchen was so well appointed and beautifully updated. We loved the big property, being surrounded by greenery on 3 sides. The only draw back was that Rock Harbor Road was quite busy and even at night one could hear traffic from the front bedrooms.
0.5 mile to Rock Harbor, 5 minutes to both Orleans and Eastham bay beaches. 3 miles to Nauset beach, 10 minutes to National Seashore beach on the ocean side. Bike path a quarter mile down the road. Bike to center of town or to seashore. 1 mile to summer stock theater, and 10 minutes from golf course. Rock Harbor provides bay access for boating as well as a small beach ideal for young children.
