A Rare and Enchanting Find!
We enjoyed a delightful week at this lovely waterfront cottage in late September. Its owners have thought of everything to make their guests feel welcome, comfortable, and perfectly at home. We loved the tranquil water views from every window -- each different, serene and superb! We also relished its "shabby chic" decor (more chic than shabby!) and meticulous attention to detail. We discovered lots of charming surprises at every turn -- from antique animal doorstops peeking out of corners, to a pretty mural on an interior door, creative tablescapes, inviting sofas, cozy beds, funky little chandeliers, and so much more.
Lingering over an early-morning coffee on the expansive deck was a memorable indulgence. So were late-afternoon chats on the dock, Scrabble grudge-matches at the painted dining table, peaceful evenings curled up with a good book. This smartly renovated cottage combined generous doses of vintage charm with much-appreciated creature comforts, including an immaculate new bathroom, robust water pressure, a thoroughly equipped country kitchen, cable television, and wireless internet access!
Did we mention that, in addition to kayaking, swimming, bicycling and croquet, this beautifully-planted waterfront property features a soul-restoring rope hammock and timeless white Adirondack chairs, each carefully situated to take full advantage of picture-postcard views?
From the moment we first walked down the seductive stone garden path to its unassuming front door, this restful cottage provided all the privacy and comfort we had hoped for, yet it was just a few minutes from the restaurants, art galleries and boat excursions of Boothbay Harbor village.
A rare and enchanting find.
