Great house, gorgeous location, amazing pool

My partner and I, together with 2 other couples, rented the Intercoastal House for a week in September 2008. We've rented homes in many other locations (Provence, Oahu, Puerto Vallarta, Mykonos) and the Ft Lauderdale house was one of the best. The home itself is excellent with multiple living spaces, two kitchens, and a fantastic patio for outdoor dining. The bedrooms and baths are all top of the line (and the master bath is particularly luxurious with rainshower, two shower bars, and a regular shower head). Two bedrooms have views of the pool and waterway, the other looks onto a private garden at the front of the house.
The house really shines when you hit the backyard, however. The pool is incredible and stretches the entire length of the property. It's perfect for lounging or lap swimming (we did both). The dock below the pool is perfect for watching the gorgeous sunsets over the Intercoastal waterway and the boat traffic. Because of the large pool and open dock access, I'd hesitate to get this house if you have toddlers or little ones.
The location is just about perfect as well. The neighborhood is quiet and the house is only a few short blocks from the beach. The beach entrance closest to the house isn't as nice as the one just a block further to the north... walk the extra distance to get a quiet, neighborhood beach feel. The main drag of Ft Lauderdale beach is only 10 min walk away, as is Birch State Park, perfect for walking and jogging. The water taxi stops at a restaurant just a 10 min walk to the north and will take you to restaurants, the mall, and downtown Ft Lauderdale.
We'd return to this house in a heartbeat.
