Enjoy tranquility with surrounding beauty in a world of its own in the Roan Valley approximately six miles north of Bakersville, North Carolina. Wake up to spectacular views of Roan Mountain and surrounding peaks. Rock or swing your stress away on the covered back porch from which you will often see deer or other wildlife. Enjoy coffee or a good book on the large deck surrounding the front of the cabin listening to the mountain creek that runs through the property and feeds two small ponds on the property.
Larger groups are welcome. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, one with 2 twins and the other with 1 queen. The master has a king on the main level. Downstairs has gas logs with a TV, 1 queen, 1 double, and a single bed.
Bring your horses, and take in other views from horse back. There is a barn with three large stalls and a two-acre fenced pasture that surrounds the cabin.
Hiking on the Appalachian Trail is less than ten minutes from the cabin, easily accessed at Carver's Gap. A short and easy hike from there provides views of five states on clear days.
Nearby Bakersville is home to numerous craft vendors with world-famous Penland School of Crafts within a 25-minute drive. Spruce Pine, Banner Elk, Asheville, Johnson City, Boone, and North Carolina ski areas are within 45-90 minutes. This is an ideal place for family and friends to escape the fast pace of culture and be refreshed with rich fellowship, taking in creation at its best.
We had a lovely time at the mountain cabin. It was peak for the leaves which made it even more beautiful. Everything was just as described by Kerry. We would recommend it to others for sure!
Like others before us we have returned to this fabulous cabin for the 3rd time. We did our annual "Thanksgiving" dinner for friends from FL who summer in NC and everything we needed was right there in the house. This is a clean, beautifully maintained property that would put many resorts to shame. The fall foliage and the many attractions in the area make this a super place to vacation. The house is so comfortable that on many days we just hung out at "home". A great relaxing two weeks. Looking forward to next year if we can make it. Thank you Kerry for making this wonderful house available to us.
We returned for our 5th visit to this beautiful area and cabin that is very clean, comfortable and has all the items needed for a great stay. Each time we come, it feels like a home away from home. We travel daily to the surrounding towns however, love to come back to the cabin to view the majestic Roan Mountain and the wild life that surrounds it. It is so relaxing and peaceful and pictures do not display the true magnitude of its beauty.
This was our 4th time staying in this cabin with the Roan Mountain surrounding us. The cabin was very clean and has everything that is needed. We enjoyed trips into the surrounding towns such as; Bakersville, Spruce Pine, Roan Mountain TN, etc., however loved to come back and settle in to view the beauty of the mountain and wildlife. The Roan Valley is such a special place and hope to travel back next year. Thank you Kerry.
How lovely it was to return to this fabulous house for a 2nd year. Knowing where everything was made it seem like coming home. Everything about the house was in perfect order and we had everything we needed to entertain local friends, and even cook a Thanksgiving type feast. We were blessed with a spectacular sunset one night. Temperatures were more moderate this year adding to the our enjoyment. Sophie (cairn terrier) got to swim in the creek so she was happy too. The parks were closed, but we enjoyed a great luncheon at the Switzerland Inn in Little Switzerland - don't miss that spot. Everything about our vacation was truly perfect. Thank you Kerry for sharing your piece of Paradise with us. Hoping to be able to make it again next year.
It was one of the best vacation I ever had. We were right in the mountains, and it was just beautiful, and, thanks for the memories you gave my family and I. And I just couldn't believe how much cooler we were compare to Florida. Wow Wow Wow Dan
