We bought this place as a family, so that various family members could come with their kids and vacation. The two pools are great because we never have to worry if one might be closed for repairs. Our daughter lives ON ISLAND, right down the street, and can help you with problems 24/7!

This place was amazing. My family and I enjoyed the island of Oahu so much that my two children cried on the beach because they didn't want to come back to Kentucky. The condo had all of the comforts of home and was much better than statying in an overpriced hotel. The best part is the advise that Hope gave us on places to see. We will be back... Hope and Josh were terrific. (Especially if you accidently lock yourself out of the condo. Opps) Thank you for a making a 4 year old and a 6 year olds vacation even more enjoyable. They loved the beach toys.
Felt right at home in this peaceful friendly condo

We had a great time in Hawaii thanks to the pleasant experience we had in Makaha staying in this condo where we felt safe and at home. The bed was very comfortable and had great nights of sleep. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals and prepare our lunches we brought on the road with us touring every corner of the island. The closest beach is absolutely wonderful and is just a short drive down the hill/road. That beach has great swimming, snorkeling and you can also surf at one end on certain days. The condo has some equipment and beach chairs/towels/mats. The condo pool was also nice and clean which we enjoyed on occasion. There is a golf course just around the corner which includes a driving range. We had a great time and recommend this nice condo which was reasonably priced.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your nice review! We strive to make this condo a basic, affordable place for people to stay on a budget. We are glad you had a good time!
We stayed here for 10 days with our 3 kids and were very pleased with the condo.
Condo is located in a well maintained property and we felt very safe. Also is located at between magnificient mountains and the ocean. In all, a great value for the price.
We were greeted by Hope who was very welcoming and helpful, giving us many informations that are not in the travel guides. Also, she made the transaction simple and easy, wich is much appreciated when traveling from another country. We also met very nice and friendly people that were year round residents of the resort.
It was a very nice place to stay for our family, with room enough for everyone, access to the pool and hot tub and all amenities described in the listing. We certainly recommend staying there.
It is true that you will spend some time in the car to visit the island, as the condo is near the end of the road, but it did not prevent us to see all major sights. On the other hand, location is beautiful and quiet and just what we were hoping for!
Thank you Hope, we really had a great time in Hawaii!
We recently stayed here for our Spring Break. We had been warned that Makaha was a little unsafe, but we never felt that way. The resort was gated (you had to show a pass to enter and leave), you had your own parking spot, and everyone there was very friendly. We met several locals who live in the resort, and they were able to give us advice about what to see and do during our stay.
Hope met us at our arrival with a box of chocolate/caramel covered macadamia nuts and gave us a tour and all the information we needed. The place was stocked with all kinds of beach gear, towels, books, movies, coolers, cookware, hair dryer and curling iron, and even some food staples. There were tons of brochures, maps, and guide books that really enhanced our ability to get around and gave us lots of information about where to go and what to see. The laundry facility was right across the parking lot with very easy access.
Everything was easily accessible - the pools were close and never crowded (though we only went there in the evenings), we had great views, and though we went to several beaches on the island, we discovered that one of the very best was just 5 minutes down the road. There were grocery stores, gas stations, parks, and the beach close by. If you've seen all the sights of the island, this is the place to stay - away from all the crowds with everything you need to have a great time.
The condo had plenty of room for six of us (my husband and I, two teenage sons, and two pre-teen daughters), and it was very livable. We felt very at home there with all the comforts of home, including Internet. We even cooked and ate Easter dinner.
Our only regret was that this condo was pretty far away from all of the major sights of the island. We spent a lot of time in the car each day getting to where we wanted to be. Just be prepared - traffic is heavy and slow, and it takes a lot longer than anticipated to get most places. However, for the price, we felt it was well worth it.
If you're looking for the Marriott, this is not the place to stay. However, if you want someplace comfortable, with all the amenities of home (except a dishwasher), at fabulous value, this is the place for you. We completely enjoyed our stay here, and would definitely recommend it as well as stay here again. Thanks for a wonderful time in Hawaii! It will definitely be a family vacation to remember!

Owner's Response: Mahalo for the review!!! I am so glad that you had a good time!!! I agree that Makaha is definitely for people who have visited the island before, and do not desire to drive around to all the major tourist sights. Its also great for people with large families who cannot afford multiple bedroom units closer to the city , but you will have to drive. I try to make it very clear on my webpage and websites that Waikiki and the North Shore are 1 hour away, and the Airport and Pearl Harbor are 40 minutes away . I also give a very clear list of amenities... none of our budget rentals have dishwashers, garbage disposals, or phones. It's just part of being able to keep the maintenance costs down so the rental prices stay low ( A Marriott 2 BR condo would cost between $400-600 per night). I can refer people to more expensive units with those amenities if they prefer them---- don't be afraid to ask!! :) I definitely want to make sure people understand what they are getting when they rent our budget condos, so that they are happy and enjoy their trip!!
Peace and Quiet (except for the peacocks....lolol)

We had an awesome time!! Out of the way but what a wonderful place. If you like to be with the locals this is the place. Yup it is cheap and awesome. All the little extras....the little welcome basket....the closet with all of the extra gear and of course Hope. You were so easy to get a hold of and answer all of my questions. We staid our first week in Waikiki and then spent our last week in Makaha...best of both worlds. If you are planning to stay here you must have a car. The town of Makaha seems to be stuck in a time warp...no national grocery / clothing stores but they were about 15 mins away. Beaches are amazing!! The apartment was clean and roomy (there were 2 adults and 4 children (10 - 14 yr olds) with a tv in each room which was a bonus with that many kids. The peacocks were also lovely but I would like to know what bird was honking at 6:30 am.....lololol. Again it is a must stay!!!
Have just returned from Hawaii after spending 16 days at this condo - Thank you to Hope who met us on the day we arrived (after a long drive from Honolulu as we arrived in rush hour) - the condo was great. Had a wonderful time there with my husband, 2 sons, daughter in law and my granddaughter. We would recommend this place to any one that does not want to stay in Honolulu. The people of the complex are very friendly. We asked for local restaurants that were affordable and good and got good recommendations. Again this is a very good condo - well worth the money
