Makaha Vacation Rental condo

This place was alot better than what I expected. It is truely a home away from home. After spending one week in the hustle and bustle of Waikiki it was nice to stay at a location that was homely and comfortable. I was impressed with all the little things that added to to homey experience. Cable tv in each room, where you could just drop and relax after a day out in the sun, beach toys , snorkles for the kids, pleanty of chilly bins, everything you need in a kitchen to make a homely meal, pleanty of reading material and dvds to relax with.
I would recommend this place to any family with small children. My kids are 5 and 3 and they just loved it with the pool and all the extra toys to keep them occupied. They didn't want to leave! Thank you for providing a lovely place to stay!

This condo is only a mile away from the most beautiful beach we found on Oahu, called the 'Secret Beach'.
The condo was roomy and very clean. It included every amenity you could want. The condo has security at the front gate 24 hours a day.
The neighbor, Robert, was very nice and gave some good suggestions for places to go.
Lee and Hope are the managers and very nice to deal with.
Tacos and More was a great little restaurant nearby that has great authentic Mexican food. Red Baron restaurant was terrible.
We would definitlely recommend this condo!
We hope to come back and would stay here again. We were very sad to leave.

This is a very cost effective way to stay on Oahu, but the complex is 45mins outside Honolulu, so hire a car! The accommodation was spacious, although it is showing it's age a little (carpets/rugs would benefit from steam clean/dated decor). Living/dining area rather hot in August even with air con on. Facilities good - pool & launderette nearby. Resort is somewhat noisy e.g. air con/cars
/gardeners/birds/washers etc and bigger then expected. It is largely a residential complex but inhabitants friendly, especially Bob upstairs. Kitchen small but has all necessary gadgets/cleaning products (although toaster temperamental, cable wiggled to get it to work). Bathroom clean but dimly lit; lots of towels, snorkels, body boards,buckets & spade etc for rentors use. Some guidebooks available. Fridge had some stock from other tenants e.g. sauces but no way of telling when these were opened.

Didn't receive check in details from agent before our holiday departure (we hadn't told agent we were going elsewhere before Makaha and so email came in after we left home) so confusion for a while at security who told us we should have a key or access number? In the end he let us pop down to condo to see if it was open and we found Josh had been waiting for us for 2-3 hrs (we got delayed at car rental and in traffic accidents)! Please note therefore to tell agent your full holiday dates/flight time and request check details/contact numbers well in advance of your holiday. Josh very friendly, even wrote Aloha message on fridge!

Good supermaket - 'Tamura' (I think!) south of condo in Waianae. Restaurants near by limited to fast food/basic takeaways. More expensive dining at Mahaka golf centre and Ko Olina reosrt (15mins away). Beaches nearby nice and sandy but sand VERY HOT in August sun. Too hot even to walk in flip flops! Turtles supposed to be at Makaha & Waianae harbour but we found turtle beach (on Waimea beach road) on the north shore to be the best place. Turtles were amazing and relaxed around snorkellers/beach goers. We also loved Hanauma bay on the other side of Waikiki.
