If you've ever wondered where Bajans go for their holidays, wonder no longer! Cattlewash, near Bathsheba on Barbados' East Coast, is that place. Stunning wooden beach house just 70 yards from the Atlantic Ocean and a mere 30 minutes from the GA international airport. Completely refurbished by designer with large open-plan sitting room, kitchen/dining area with 12' high vaulted ceiling. Master bedroom suite featuring mahogany sleigh bed with four-poster style canopy and ensuite European bathroom. Egyptian cotton sheets and towels throughout. Huge private sun deck with breathtaking, uninterrupted ocean views with loungers and dining table, perfect for daytime or evening dining. Private telephone with no charge for local calls. There is a local mini-mart nearby. We would be delighted to purchase grocery items and drinks to set you up for the first couple of days.

Start your day with a leisurely walk (or jog) along Cattlewash Beach, the longest and most private beach on the island and discover the sea turtles, crabs and angel fish. Enjoy breakfast on the private sun deck to the sound of the waves rolling from the Atlantic and enjoy lunch at one of the 6 local restaurants offering first class Bajan food and perhaps take a little siesta. Alternatively take a drive from this most frequently photographed, picturesque part of the island into town. Visit the Barbados Wildlife Park about a 10 minute drive up the coast and perhaps St Nicholas Abbey. The world-famous 'Soup Bowl' where international surfing takes place is just minutes away. The 'Flower Forest,' 'Harrisons Cave' and 'Andromeda Botanical Gardens' are all a short drive away. Not forgetting St Johns Church and the many plantation houses which are well worth a visit. The area is perfect for those interested in hiking and mountain-biking

Should you desire additional accommodation, the property has another self contained apartment which also sleeps 6 people. This apartment also has 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin room. It has 2 number showers, (1 En-suite). Similar specification to the upstairs upstairs. Own private sun deck with patio furniture.

Downstairs apartment now also available for separate or combined rental. Full property rental rates (upstairs and downstairs) would be at a discounted rate. Please enquire about the downstairs apartment, in case this is available.

Epic retreat in the best part of the island

We have just got back from 9 days at Washed Up. It was a brilliant trip made even better by this great accommodation. The views from the terrace over Cattlewash (the beach) are stunning. We travelled around a lot of Barbados but quickly realised that we were staying in the best place. Thanks for a great stay.

Beautiful Barbados

The house is situated in Cattlewash, which brings to life any fantasy of what a wind swept tropical coast should look like. The deck upstairs is huge, probably a third of the size of the house. The view of the ocean is stunning and expansive. A view that can bring some of us to spend hours enjoying the wild and wonderful Atlantic. The crash of the waves on the shore induces a hypnotic feeling. I spent many a morning running barefoot on the beach next to the ocean, and this is more fun than anything I had experienced in a health club. The amenities in the house were everything stated in this ad and more. There are several very good restaurants nearby. A car is a good idea, and there are bus stops "to" and "from city" nearby.
Barbados offers a wide varitey of activities and attractions, but far too many to list in this review. Bajan (Barbadian) people are among the most courteous in the world, so wherever you go, someone will be there, if you need them, whether driving or taking the bus. The beauty of this house is the peace and quiet, and when you want to do something else, it's all within reach.

The Perfect Getaway!

My wife and I recently stayed at "Washed Up" on our honeymoon (Jan. 2007) and absolutely loved it! The house is certainly away from it all, on the quiet side of the island.
The views of the ocean from the house are beyond description as the house is perched on a hillside and has a huge deck facing the ocean and double doors that open wide and let the constant breeze in. During the day there are birds stopping by to visit as well as other wildlife (we saw osprey, mongoose and even a few monkeys!)
There are a number of local restaurants and small grocery stores as well. The food is very good and most of the restaurants have stunning ocean views.
I recommend renting a car to explore the rest of Barbados and visit the Caribbean side of the island where the beaches are not as beautiful, but are suited for swimming.
Washed Up may not be ideal for the person who prefers resorts but if you are looking for peace, quiet and privacy in an amazing natural surrounding I would highly recommend this house!
The owner recommended a car rental service as well as some restaurants and activities and all worked out well.
