Fairbanks Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Modern Log Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed, 2 Baths

For an unforgettable Alaskan experience, we invite you to stay in our beautifully hand crafted log cabin. Built on the banks of the scenic Chena River, Riverbend Log Cabins offers a peaceful and secluded 3 ½ acre setting that is centrally located between historical Fairbanks and North Pole Alaska. The rustic elegance of the Chinook Cabin is enhanced by the beautiful river view and surrounding boreal forest. Trees have been cleared in front of the cabin to provide an unobstructed view of Northern Lights. Abundant wildlife – moose, eagles, beaver, waterfowl are often seen from the cabin. Moose frequently visit the property – both during the summer and winter months.

The Chinook Cabin features lovely, comfortable furnishings and beautiful artwork. An outdoor log steam sauna provides a perfect way to relax after a long day. For enjoying the outdoors the Chinook cabin features a cobblestone patio with a gas propane grill, a log picnic table, a small lower deck with a handcrafted log bench, and a larger second story balcony with table and chairs.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a stove and oven, microwave, dishes, cutlery, toaster and coffee maker, refrigerator and everything needed for meal preparation. The cabin is stocked with complementary Alaska blend gourmet coffee and condiments.

The Chinook Cabin has two upstairs bedrooms each with a queen sized bed. Both beds have new mattresses that are fitted with 100% high thread count cotton sheets, soft blankets and comforters. The bedrooms have one adjoining wall that can be closed with a wood folding door. Each bedroom has a separate entrance. The larger bedroom has French doors that lead to an upstairs balcony with beautiful river and northern lights views.

There is a downstairs bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and shower and a half bath upstairs.

In addition to our Chinook cabin, Riverbend offers the Sourdough cabin. The Sourdough features an upstairs bedroom, a downstairs full bath with shower and a fully equipped kitchen. The cabin comfortably sleeps 1 - 2 guests. For more information on the Sourdough cabin, please see VRBO listing #465596.

About Debi Hanson

Bruce & Debi have lived in Alaska for a combined 57 years. Bruce is an avid hunter, fisherman, craftsman and gardener. Debi enjoys spending time with the grandchildren, various forms of glass art, watercolor, gardening and visiting with our guests. Bruce is looking forward to his upcoming retirement from the University of Alaska and Debi is a retired bookkeeper.

Debi Hanson purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Debi Hanson chose Fairbanks

We both had a lifelong dream of building a log home. When we found this property, we 'just knew' it was the perfect land to start the process of fulfilling our dream. The combination of the serene riverfront location, the surrounding boreal forest, wildlife, wild berries and flowers gives the feeling of being in a sacred, special place. We made the decision in 2006 to build additional cabins so that we could share our dream with others. We thoroughly enjoy the wide variety of guests that stay in the cabins. We love sharing information and stories about our Alaskan lifestyle and hearing about the lives and travels of our guests.

What makes this cabin unique

Quiet, peaceful riverfront setting, centrally located between Fairbanks and North Pole, Alaska. The rustic elegance of the cabin, comfortable furnishings and beautiful artwork is enhanced by the gorgeous river view and surrounding boreal forest, creating a perfect place to rest and relax on your holiday or vacation. Riverbend's Sourdough cabin provides an excellent location to view and photograph the Northern Lights. (Note: Our property with the Northern Lights in the background is featured on the front page of the 2012 Fairbanks Vistior's Guide). Opportunities to view and photograph a variety of wildlife (moose, waterfoul, beaver & eagles). Fishing in front of the cabins, nearby hiking trails and centrally located to Interior Alaska's activities and attractions.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My Alaskan winter has been complete with my stay in this little "Oasis" the Chinook Cabin at Riverbend. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe how wonderful this place really is. The cabin is very well appointed, decorated perfectly, cozy and just plain adorable. It is situated on the river in a peaceful and tranquil se...tting which was very relaxing and quite enjoyable but there were many exciting things happening as well. There were fireworks over the river on New Years Eve, dogsled teams running over the frozen river, Aurora viewing from the balcony, Momma moose and her young in the yard, plus Santa and Mrs Claus paying me a special visit during the holidays! Wow, what more could you ask for? The attention to detail and the genuine kindenss from the owners, the Hanson's, have made me feel extremely comfortable. My stay was everything I hoped for and MORE! I cannot wait until I can visit again, Thank you Debi and Bruce!

It's great!!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I spent 4 days in Fairbanks at the end of February; we rented 2 cabins at Riverbend. The equipment in carbons which are complete prepared and it feels very comfortable and warm. Riveebend is not far away from city center by car, the surrounding environment where is also a suitable place to see the northern light. The owner, Debi & Bruce are very friendly and enthusiastic; they gave us lots of help when we suffered some difficulties. We are very grateful for their assistance, and have had a very memorable trip in Alaska.

Riverbend definitely will be my first choice for next time to Fairbanks.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent the last 5 days of our honeymoon in Fairbanks and stayed in the Sourdough Cabin at Riverbend. The cabin was perfect. Very warm, private, and away from the city which made good viewing of the Northern Lights right out the front of the cabin. The owners Debi and Bruce are very friendly and always happy to give advice on things to do in the area. This was the perfect end to our trip. Thank you Debi and Bruce. We hope to stay with you again.

wonderful get away!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Riverbend cabin with the 2 bedrooms. Everything about this little cabin was perfect. Debi and Bruce have gone above and beyond in making their cabins functional and homey. There is everything from a fully furnished kitchen, fluffy towels in the bathroom (complete with a Jacuzzi tub) and wonderful books and games for when the weather is cold outside. They even invited us to join them one evening when they had a fire going in their fire pit that's located by the beautiful river. The cabins have radiant heat and even though it was in middle of winter, my feet were toasty warm. Bruce and Debi were wonderful hosts too. They are very giving people and made us feel most welcome. They had some welcoming treats for us and gave us plenty of advice on the events around the area.

What a gem

  • 5 of 5

This place is absolutely beautiful. My wife and I stayed here as part of our honeymoon and it really lived up to the reviews. We were welcomed when we arrived by the owners of the property Debi and Bruce and shown to our accommodation. We stayed in the Chinook cabin. There was a basket of treats awaiting us and the lodge was very clean and cosy. The lodge and the location is a real beauty in the winter, I imagine it would also be very pretty in the summer time, as it is only 100 metres or so from a section of the Chena river, but during winter you can walk on the river as it is frozen solid, and it makes a great clear location from which to view the northern lights from. Through out our stay we had a couple of visits from Debi to drop off some freshly baked delicious goods and make sure everything was to our satisfaction.

In terms of getting there and back it is probably a 20 minute drive from the main town / airport and very easy to get to and from. We hired a standard front wheel drive and had no issues, however it didn’t snow during our 4 day stay so the roads were very good. If you are planning on staying local and only heading to things nearby (i.e. chena hot springs) then this type of vehicle should be fine. They also have facilities to plug the car into for winterization purposes.

The only slight negative was that the wifi connection was very unreliable, I don’t think it would be as bad for the other cabin as it is closer to the main home where the router is located however the Chinook cabin does not receive a very reliable signal.

We were fortunate enough to see the northern lights one night and got some great photos. Down on the river is a really great vantage point. If you are planning a nice remote getaway in a beautiful location where you can really get away from everything, look no further.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking time to write such a nice review! We're so happy that you were able to experience the Northern Lights during your 'honeymoon stay' with us and that you enjoyed the Chinook cabin! We're sorry about the intermittent Wifi connection. Alaska is known for having slow internet speeds, especially in remote locations like ours. Even though we pay for the fastest speed available, it still slows down when multiple devices are connected to the router. We wish both of you many happy years together and hope you are able to visit us again!

Amazing!

What a wonderful place!! The cabin was warm, welcoming and in such a fantastic location. The cabins are slightly out of town, but close enough to be convenient and far enough way for perfect peace and quiet ( and a great spot to see the Northern Lights! )

Debi and Bruce made us feel very welcome, gave us lot’s of advice and help to make the most of our stay, but also lot’s of space to enjoy the environment.

I would highly recommend hiring a car (from Alaska Auto Rentals, another great experience) and making the most of this beautiful part of the world. We couldn’t be happier with the cabin, the location and the price.

All round it was perfect accommodation on a perfect holiday. We can’t wait to come back
