Photos and Description of the Bar Harbor vacation cottage rental 1 bedroom, 1 bath, sleeps maximum of 2 persons

Hikers Haven on Whitetail Lane in Salisbury Cove is tucked into the field and woods of an 1840's farm. The cottage is a newly completed post and beam timber frame. Construction is traditional hand cut mortise and tenon joinery with all the beautiful, massive beams left exposed. The kitchen is finished with cherry cabinets and corian countertops plus a ceramic tile floor. The loft bedroom has a queen-size custom made 'Zen' bed. All appliances including the gas/log fireplace stove are new. The owners designed Hikers Haven to be their own Summer cottage in the future.

The entrance to Acadia National Park is just 4 miles away. The park offers beaches, rock climbing, great scenic hiking trails, 50+ miles of carriage roads for biking, running or a lazy stroll and don't miss the sunsets (and sunrises) from the top of Cadillac Mountain. You can hike or take the auto road to the summit. We are just one mile from Hadley's Point Beach, a great place to slip your kayak into the saltwater and explore Frenchman's Bay. From late June to mid October,The Island Explorer (a free Island shuttle service) can whisk you and your bike away from our new, private, post-and-beam cottage to all that Mt. Desert Island has to enjoy. At days end, return home to oriental touches in this charming timberframe.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Weekly/ max 2 persons -May $595., June $675., July / Aug $795., Sept / Oct $695.
  • Weekly/ max 2 persons - May $595.,June $675., July / Aug $795., Sept / Oct $695. One person rate same as two.
    A deposit equal to 50% of the weekly rental amount is required to hold a reservation (will hold verbally for 7 days).
    The balance of rental fee + 8.5% Lodging tax + $ 200. security deposit is due 3 weeks prior to arrival date.
    The security deposit is refunded in cash at the time of check out. Credit cards are no longer accepted.
    Personal checks and bank or postal money orders are accepted.
    There are normally no cleaning fees but we do ask our guests to be thoughtful and please leave The Hikers Haven as they found it. The owners do all the preparations for incoming guests. Thank You.
  • Our timberframe cottage was designed as a romantic, adventure getaway. Honeymoon, anniversary and adult
    couples of all ages are most welcome. Weekly reservations for more than 2 persons will not be accepted.
    The Hikers Haven 2010 special offer is one, two, or all 3 of the weeks beginning May 15th and ending June 5th, 2010, at $595./ wkly + tax and security.
    The security deposit is refunded in cash at the time of check out, Saturday morning.

Great vacation rental

This extra clean and beautiful cabin met our needs perfectly. We appreciated the attention to details; the quality furnishings, amenities and linens. This house is just off the main road which made it convenient. (but it also had some road noise). The owners were super helpful in all ways including giving recommendations for area hikes. We loved the hikes, but especially loved the biking and kayaking - we would have loved another week there! I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a comfortable and charming get-away.
