All of the homes and condominiums at Martinique are wonderful—this exceptional beachfront condominium is one of a kind. Martinique offers the unique luxury of abutting the beautiful and serene Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge. This waterfront condo is the only penthouse immediately adjacent to the Refuge, offering privacy and breathtaking views of the beach and Refuge. Additionally, you will witness the sunrise over the gulf waters each morning. There are no buildings obscuring the views of the beach—just uninterrupted natural beauty. Experience peace and serenity while enjoying the benefits of overlooking the 4,200-acre wildlife sanctuary, with three miles of permanently mandated undeveloped beach along the sanctuary to the east. Listen to birds and watch for dolphins while sipping espresso on the private balcony. This beautiful condo offers plenty of light and beautiful three directional views, including water views from the kitchen, dining room, living room, master bedroom and generous corner balcony.

The overall decor is warm and casually sophisticated, with lovely hand-painted walls, and offers an open floor plan with close to 1,900 square feet of living space.

Each year the owner's update some aspect of the home, with the goal of making it more enjoyable for both the renters and themselves. During the last 3 years there has been significant updates made to the kitchen, with all new stainless steel appliances as well as large tile travertine limestone flooring. The second and third bathrooms were refitted with limestone and granite flooring, marble and granite counters, new fixtures, lighting, facets, and mirrors. Beautifully unique ceramic tiles have been installed at the entryway. This year, the master bath was completely rebuilt with new custom made walnut cabinetry, antique furniture, antique style soaking tub, extravagant fixtures throughout, and a luxurious shower wet area. The wet area walls, floor to ceiling, and the entire floor of this oversized new bathroom are covered by seven full slabs of an exquisite and rare Italian marble.

The fully appointed kitchen includes eat-in breakfast area, microwave, Coffee pot, Keurig, dishwasher and laundry room with full size washer and dryer. Extensive cookware and dinnerware, along with extras such as a cappuccino machine, Keurig coffeemaker and honor wine bar makes dining in a pleasure.

The open, airy feeling is enhanced by the 10-foot ceilings of this penthouse unit, along with generous 15-foot vaulted ceilings in the living and dining areas. Other amenities include ceiling fans, plantation shutters, central heating and air conditioning, a large master bath with whirlpool tub, separate glass enclosed shower, double vanity and lots of closet space.

Many personal touches will make this retreat feel like your own vacation home. Large beach towels, Keurig coffee maker, games, puzzles, movies, a fine selection of books, and CDs are included for your comfort. The balcony area features a teak dining set with four chairs and two teak steamer loungers.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have returned to this property every fall for the past seven years. It is just to our liking. The size suits 3 couples with ample room and a spacious deck overlooking the Gulf and the Bon Secours Wildlife refuge.It is private and secure. We were only allowed two vehicles on property for 3 couples which was a problem but we solved it. We would have paid extra for a third space. For this we would deduct a star.The restaurant options have been dramatically enhanced by the opening of Jesse's on the Gulf just 2 miles away.The amenities are great but we would have hoped for a large flat screen tv.We will return again in the future.

The unit is very nice, clean and the kitchen well equipped with anything you could need. With its corner location overlooking the nature preserve, it is so quiet...exactly like we love. I would have booked it for next year but needed Sunday to Sunday and the unit only allows for Saturday to Saturday.As I stated, this is our 12th year at Martinique. Last year we had trouble reaching management staff and when we did they were not anywhere near as friendly and helpful as usual. This year they were back to their awesome selves, yay! Also, while the grounds are always well kept, this year they were even more spectacular! Due to the coolness of the weather, the pools were not utilized by any of our group and by very few of the other guest. While the weather cannot be controlled, it would be nice if management would heat the first pool in October so that people can enjoy at least one of the pools. We did see the security people patrolling often and noticed that people who did not have condo parking passes but were parked up by the condo's were getting tickets (told they were warning tickets the first time). It was a tad disconcerting to see the security man with a gun on his hip, would hope such need was not necessary.If you decide to book a stay at 301E you will not regret it!
