Geographic location:
The cottage is located within a private community on the Southwest side of Lake Wallenpaupack. To find the general location of the house by Mapquest or Google Maps, use: Beaver Lake Drive, Lakeville, PA 18438. The cottage is located approximately: 7 Miles from Interstate 84 Exit 20, 3 Miles from Rt. 590 in Lakeville, 6 Miles from Hamlin, 12 Miles from Hawley, 16 Miles from Honesdale, 25 Miles from Scranton.
Location of cottage in community:
The cottage is located on Beaver Lake Drive which wraps around Beaver Lake, a small lake completely surrounded by the private community. The cottage is located across the street from Beaver Lake, and has a partial view of the water. Access to Beaver Lake by canoe is located approximately 1/4 mile from the cottage. Also approximately 1/4 away is Beaver Lake Lodge, equipped with an outdoor pool, tennis courts, basketball courts and fitness center. The swimming area and sandy beach on Beaver Lake is located approximately 1/2 mile from the cottage. The community includes one more small lake, Deer Lake, with sandy beach and non-motorized boat launch. There are also two other pools (1 outdoor, 1 indoor), gaming areas (tennis, basketball, baseball, volleyball, shuffleboard, boccie, horseshoes) and a skate park. The community has a boat launch on Lake Wallenpaupack for daily motorized and non-motorized boat use. Transient slips are available at several nearby marinas.
Fishing information:
Lk Wallenpaupack is the Poconos Mountains' supreme fishery. Built in 1927 to generate hydroelectric power, the 13½-mile long lake is framed by 52 miles of shoreline that includes hundreds of acres of forest lands, trails, campsites and boat slips. But what draws anglers to 'The Pack' is hard-hitting small mouth up to 5 pounds, walleye up to 15 pounds, and a mix of pure-strain and hybrid striped bass. Since the mid-'80s, pure-strain and hybrid stripers have been stocked here annually on an alternating basis. In late June, a 35-pounder was caught, breaking the previous record of 34 pounds. The most commonly caught keepers are 8- to 12-pounders. Lk Wallenpaupack is considered one of the Poconos' best small mouth, walleye, striped bass, and catfish lakes.Visit our local Walmart for fishing licenses - a must or penalties are costly. Also available is boat launching access to the big lake-WLE Community homeowners have lake rights so renters must display the community pass to enjoy the lake.
