Great Vacation House

We recently stayed at Manini House for a week. It was our first time to Hawaii and we weren't sure what to expect. We were looking for something off the beaten track, away from the big resorts, but close to great snorkeling and kayaking. Manini House was perfect. We have two teenagers who like to be active and then nap--the house was perfect for both. The house is fully stocked, very clean, and just beautiful! Each bedroom has its own bathroom, the tv has cable, and the kitchen is large and fully equipped. The house has a wonderful lanai where we spent many hours eating outside, relaxing, reading, and listening to the waves. The upstairs bedroom is the most beautiful part of the house with exposed beam ceilings, windows on all sides, great views of the ocean, and a luxurious shower. We fell asleep listening to the waves and woke up to a cacophony of bird calls. From the upstairs deck we could see whales, spinner dolphins, and the beach. We walked the two minutes to Manini beach and went snorkeling---fantastic numbers of beautiful fish right there!! We also walked 10 minutes, past the wharf, to a man who rents kayaks for $40/day. He was very nice and the launch was always exciting (but safe). We kayaked to captain cook monument and took turns jumping off the kayaks to snorkel. Again incredible fish. On the way back, we saw a pod of spinner dolphins..spinning and just cruising around our kayaks. We took walks to another beach and went running on road 160 which is a quiet two lane flat road great for a run. The house has everything you need for the beach --boogie boards, beach chairs, a beach umbrella, beach towels, etc. There is a fun ping pong table under the house too. We drove to different beaches for paddle boarding, night snorkeling with the manta rays, and boogie boarding but were always glad to come back to peaceful Manini House for cool drinks on the lanai and relaxing sounds of the waves hitting the shore. We have rented many houses through VRBO and this one is the best so far. Its great for a family, lots of space, very clean, well equipped, and looks exactly like the pictures. If you like to be away from the big resorts and big crowds, and like to snorkel and swim in the ocean..this is a great place to vacation. When we arrived we were welcomed with Konacopia coffee and fruits and a pretty orchid plant...which was a nice way to arrive. We highly recommend Manini Point House and would come back in a heartbeat.
