Brian, Karen, our 3 children, and 2 golden retrievers live near Newport RI. Karen is a native Rhode Islander and has a career with American Airlines, Brian is an investment advisor in Newport RI. Our family has enjoyed the Stowe area for several years.

The Owner purchased this house in 2004

We have been going to Stowe for several years as we have found it to be a great destination for all seasons. The property is conveniently located, private, yet close to town. The pond is great for skating in the winter and fun in the summer for swimming or fishing. We have stocked the pond with brown trout a few years ago. There are 2 streams that run through the property

Great Time in a Great House!

  • 5 of 5
My family and friends, including our pets, totally enjoyed our vacation in this home. Not only was it super clean (which isn't always the case in a pet-friendly rental), but the house had everything we needed to be completely comfortable - from the furniture to the linens and super stocked kitchen (we love to cook!). We had a great time in the hot tub, taking walks and just hanging out under the stars on the super deck. We highly recommend this home for a relaxing, comfortable and fun vacation near the slopes. We will be back!

Perfect House for Summer/Winter Getaway

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the Mountain House in July with three other married couples and had an absolute blast. The house is easy to find, secluded from the main road, but very close to nearby attractions. The house included everything you could ask for in a summer getaway such as a grill, hot tub, pond with dock, and proximity to hiking and downtown Stowe.

The property is gorgeous, and you can spend hours just sitting on the porch enjoying the fresh Vermont air. As other reviewers mentioned, we also hiked the Pinnacle Trail and went to Bingham Falls (including cliff jumping into the river with the locals!). We are also craft beer fans, so we made a trip to the Alchemist Brewery in nearby Waterbury, as well as a longer trip to Hill Farmstead Brewery in Greensboro. The wives hit downtown Stowe, Ben and Jerry's and the Cabot Creamery Annex Store. Whether you want to stay at the house, or explore the city or nature options in Stowe, this house provides all that you would need.

The owners were superb, and offered us many recommendations on activities, directions to nature trails, and other ideas on things to do. The whole experience was seamless, and we plan to come back!

Lovely house!

  • 4 of 5
It was my first time traveling to Vermont and I was not disappointed. We loved staying in this house! Brian the owner was very helpful and answered all of my questions from the time I inquired about the property. He was always friendly and made time for me no matter when I called. He called as soon as we got there to welcome us and make sure everything was okay. My husband and I were traveling with my parents and our dog. The house gave my parents a floor to themselves with a bedroom and bathroom for privacy. We were never in each other's way getting ready. We were expecting more people to join us for a few days and there would have been plenty of room for them to have their own floor too. There was a lot of wood cut and ready for us and the weather was a little chilly so we had a fire every night after we got out of the hot tub! It was the perfect way to wind down after a long day of hiking and sightseeing. The property was great and it was secluded so it was peaceful when we were just hanging out. It was close to the town and hiking so we didn't have to travel far to have plenty of spectacular sights to see. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in the area!

Great Family Summer Vacation

  • 5 of 5
We went to Stowe and to this home on a lark. We knew we wanted to be in the mountains, in the woods, and wanted to be together as a family for 10 days. From the first interaction on VRBO, dealing with Brian, the owner, was a breeze. He was helpful, informative and "got" what we were looking for. We arrived after a 10 hour drive exhausted, and the last few moments of daylight in this beautiful setting left us revived and ready for the next morning. The house is a five minute drive from the center of Stowe, and sits literally at the trail head for the Stowe Pinnacle Trail. That hike alone was worth the trip - and we did it repeatedly. 360 degree views of the whole valley await you at the Pinnacle. The home is nestled into beautiful and accessible woodlands, with neighbors far and few between. The pond's many and loud frogs provide ample entertainment! We capped most evenings with a bonfire in the fire pit, complete with s'mores. In addition to the wonderful Pinnacle Trail, we took excursions to the Moss Glen Falls, the Bingham Falls, the Quiet Trail (great for dogs on the West Branch of the river), and the Alpine Slide up at Spruce Peak. Never a dull moment. And the vacation was just what the doctor ordered....

Wonderful Getaway

  • 5 of 5
The house is comfortable and well-appointed, the property is gorgeous, and the location is convenient to many interesting activities. We spent time hiking nearby on the Pinnacle Trail and to Bingham Falls (including cliff jumping into the river with the locals!); enjoyed the local malt shop; hit the Cabot Creamery Annex Store and the Cold Hollow Cider Mill twice each (the cider donuts are incredible – we got a dozen for the ride home). And we’ve already decided what we will do next time (visit a glass blowing studio and a winery). But honestly, we both agreed that even if we had never left the property, it would have been an amazing getaway. The four days that we spent there allowed us to really relax and unwind. The owners are so nice and helpful. We will definitely be back!
