Located on one of Madrid's most emblematic streets, the historic Calle Mayor, this comfortable two-bedroom apartment provides a peaceful accommodation in the most central part of this vibrant city. Recently renovated in a classic style with painstaking attention to detail, the property offers visitors easy access to many of the city's most famed attractions. The Plaza Mayor, the Royal Theatre and the Royal Palace are all within walking distance, as is the charming, turn of the 20th century market of San Miguel. The late 19th century building, which houses this apartment and has also been refurbished to high standards, is located in a restricted-traffic area, making life for pedestrians even easier. The apartment itself is interior, facilitating visitors' ability to get their rest after long days of tourism, despite being so close to the busy Puerta del Sol. The décor throughout the property features warm colours, with shades of brown mixing comfortably with wood laminate flooring. The living room has three balconies that look out onto a patio. The sleeping quarters consist of a main bedroom, with a queen-sized bed, and a second bedroom with a twin, trundle bed that can be extended to accommodate a fourth person. Surface Area: 90 m2. Second floor (no lift/elevator). The entrance hall leads first into the kitchen and bathroom (with a shower) on the left, and then straight ahead into an open dining / living area. This room, which looks out onto a patio, contains an armchair, a 3-seater sofa, a glass coffee table, a TV with DVD player, and a dining table for 4 people. The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator / freezer, a 4-ring ceramic hob (stove), oven, dishwasher and washing machine. It also has a dining table with several bar stools. The living room connects with the 2 bedrooms (each of which has a fitted wardrobe): a single bedroom with 2 twin beds ( 2 single beds one beneath the other, 90m x 1.90m) and 1 double room (with a queen-sized bed 150m x 1.90m).
We arrived at the apartment directly from the airport where the driver had been incredibly helpful, kind and good fun on the way. We then met Alex outside the apartment, who was also incredibly helpful and full of information for us. He not only gave us information about the apartment and how things work, but also recommended places to us and located us on a map. He also got in touch with the concierge service immediately to see if there were tickets for Real Madrid playing on the Sunday evening. (This was at no extra cost, just part of the incredible service). The concierge service also recommended some Flamenco places to us and ordered tickets for us to collect at the door. Really useful. The apartment itself is really beautiful, clean, bright and very elegant. It is literally next to Plaza Mayor and an amazing market place which does great tapas. We had one meal in the Asturias restaurant opposite called 'Niego' and it was by far the best of the lot. The steak, 'Solomillo' was to die for! The beds in the apartment were very comfortable and the shower was the best I've known for its power and temperature regulation in any accommodation (one of the most important aspects for me!) This was an amazing weekend which we will never forget, and I will certainly recommend Spain Select to others and sincerely hope to return again myself.
