With a fantastic location right in the heart of el barrio de los Austrias in the centre of Madrid, the area surrounding the property boasts wonderful views of the city. Just by walking a few minutes from the apartment guests can watch the sun set over La Almudena cathedral and the beautiful Casa de Campo park, the capital’s largest green space, perfect for walking, cycling or picnicking. The area surrounding the apartment is one of the oldest and most typical of Madrid, with historical buildings at every turn and traditional shops, tabernas and cafes on every corner. The neighbouring barrio of La Latina is the place to go for some of the best tapas, food and socializing in the city, while many of Madrid’s top cultural sights and attractions are within easy walking distance. These include the Royal Palace, the bustling Puerta del Sol and the lovely Campo del Moro, a quiet garden oasis tucked behind the Palace and filled with exotic birds. There are a number of different bus and metro stations nearby, meaning guests can explore the rest of the city and beyond with ease. Spacious and bright and with an elegantly decorated interior, the apartment itself is a very special space right in the heart of Madrid. The focal point of the apartment is the large open-plan living area that incorporates a sitting room, dining room and fully-equipped modern kitchen.  The uniquely shaped sitting room gives a sense of separation from the dining and kitchen area, and has been decorated in an art deco style, with designer light fittings, original artwork, and comfortable yet stylish furniture. The dining area is filled with light thanks to more balconette windows, and seats up to six people. The adjoining kitchen is brand new and contemporary in design, and comes fully equipped with everything guests may need during their stay.Each of the three bedrooms has been individually decorated in a style in keeping with the rest of the property, with muted tones, modern furnishings and splashes of bright colour. The master bedroom is particularly impressive, with a beautiful en-suite bathroom that includes a large stand-alone bathtub. Each of the bedrooms has ample wardrobe space. With a lovely interior and fantastic location in one of the city’s most historic neighbourhoods, this is a very special apartment for those looking to really immerse themselves in the inner-city Madrid lifestyle during their time in this exciting city.  Surface area: 170m2. Second floor: Entrance leads into the open plan kitchen / living / dining room, with 6 French-door balconies looking out onto the street; it is furnished with a 3-seater sofa, two armchairs, two side tables with lamps, a coffee table, TV and DVD player and a dining table for 6 people. The modern kitchen is equipped with a fridge / freezer, 4-ring ceramic hob (stove), oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine /dryer. Along the corridor, there are 3 bedrooms (with fitted wardrobes): the master bedroom consists of a double bed (king-sized bed 1.80m x 2.00m), a dressing room and en suite bathroom with 2 wash basins, walk-in shower and separate bath;  1 double-room (queen-sized bed 1.50m x 2.00m) and a twin-bedroom (with 2 twin beds 0.90m x 2.00m). There is a second bathroom with walk-in shower. Please note there is wooden flooring throughout the apartment except for the bathrooms and the kitchen, which are tiled.

Absolutely perfect - 10 Stars! Elegant, spacious, immaculate, perfect location, perfect price!

My husband & I rented Spain Select's Bailen IV for a week long stay last Sept.2013, it was everything & more than we hoped for, the apartment is in a beautiful old Madrid building with the apartment's interior totally renovated with very high end elegant, contemporary finishes, beautiful furniture and immaculately clean. The tall ceilings & French doors looking out at the trees on Calle Bailen added to the beautiful atmosphere. Equally important, it's located within a short walking distance to top sites and restaurants, e.g., the restaurants along Calle Cava Baja and the famous tapa bars of Mercardo San Miguel. I had never been to Madrid or anywhere in Spain before, though we've traveled extensively elsewhere throughout Europe, UK, Asia and the U.S. We also don't speak any Spanish at all, but felt totally at ease with the booking with Spain Select. I found this apartment with Spain Select on first on VRBO and then researched them further on Spain Select's own website and was impressed with the history of the company, how well organized their website is for ease of booking and confidence in the way they handle processing everything directly to me via email, with immediate replies, etc. They even can arrange a private car to pick you up at the airport and return, which we needed as we were heading to meet up with the rest of our family in Venice to start a cruise on Crystal Serenity to Monte Carlo. My husband is an architect and I'm an attorney, so we're sometimes not easy to please. We would give Spain Select and its Bailen IV apartment 10 Stars! We hope we can return to Madrid in the not too distant future and stay here again, but for longer, as one week was not enough.
