Highgate House Rental Photos and Description
2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Home Surrounded By Some Of London’s Best Parks
The good life
Whether you’re a city slicker or a country bumpkin, highgate offers all the self-sufficiency and charm of a village, whilst also supplying a healthy dose of sustainable urban glamour. For those with more acute cravings for nature there are 70 acres of ancient woodland nearby. And with such a plethora of excellent independent shops, cafes and bohemian bars on your doorstep, localism has never been so easy. Tucked away, up a pretty, winding hill of terraced houses you’ll discover this sunny two bed, two bathroom flat. Tranquil, and tastefully simple, it’s the perfect place to detoxify from the pollutants of the rat race.
Arts and crafts
Small is beautiful, and if highgate west hill is anything to go by, then it must be true. Both handsome and practical, this home contains nothing that is surplus to requirements.
So step through the front door, then upstairs into the sunny sitting room and submit to the virtues of unfussiness. Here, the tasteful combination of bright white, fresh blue and warm pine will bring to mind a cosy danish simplicity. But cosy doesn’t mean cramped, for there is no skimping on space in the well-equipped open plan kitchen. Why not rustle up some meatballs? While they’re sizzling, throw open the balcony doors, nestle down in the scandinavian chair and gaze over highgate.
Later, freshen up in a shiny, modern bathroom. Inspiration is provided by a print of william morris wallpaper, accompanied by these wise words: ‘have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or beautiful’ – an ideal visibly demonstrated here.
Makers and shakers
Your host now lives in muswell hill and is a talented crafts woman with a passion for patchwork. Working in a nearby prep school and you might just bump into her walking her spaniel through queens woods or over hampstead heath.
Given its magnificent hilltop position, its quiet, village charm and beautiful 18th century architecture it’s little wonder highgate has become home to many ‘a’ list inhabitants. With hundreds of acres of ancient woodland and the legendary highgate cemetery nearby you won’t be short of activities to sustain you. Take a stroll to pond square for some great shops, bookshops and cafes, and stop for a pint in the notorious and historic flask pub. With central London only a short tube ride away, your can burst that bubble of seclusion whenever you choose.
