Make this hawaiian ranch style home, bordering serene Makuu Homestead, surrounded by an opulent tropical garden, your special retreat.
Three miles from the ocean, and a mile from the main highway, Hawaiian Jungle Hangout offers easy access to eastside highlights--20 minutes from Ahalanui Beach Park (a naturally warmed 95 degree seawater pond), 35 minutes from Volcano National Park, 20 minutes from Hilo airport, 10 minutes from Keaau town, and 10 minutes from Pahoa Village.
A full kitchen, two bedrooms, plus a den which has a sleeper sofa that opens to a plush round, in a comfortable home on a lush acre of tropical fruits and native plant. Pick fruits and explore the garden and its walkways which include a citrus grove, samoan mango, starfruit, macadamia, lychee, avocado, banana, papaya, noni, and mulberry tree, around lava rock flows.
Also just completed is the asian fused tropical Hawaiian Jungle Hut. Next to the main house with a separate entrance, the hut is perfect for a couple or single guest, having it's own full bathroom, living room, inside washer and dryer, and kitchenette with a tiki bar. The hut is also wireless and cable connected.
A memorable place to make your home during your vacation or business stay.
Since venturing to the Big Island 15 years ago, I've always been drawn to the volcano, warm springs, and rainforest. As a documentary photographer for over two decades, the 15 different microclimates delight in an ever changing offering of surreal landscapes, diversity of character and faces, exotic/colorful fauna, and island politics, gives a profuse array of visual opportunities and is a photographer's paradise. I feel fortunate to have a home located minutes from all my favorite sites and love having the opportunity to share the experience.

For those that seek the peace and serenity of a rainforest getaway, the Hawaiian Jungle Hangout/Hut offers just that. It is not more than a twenty minute drive to many of the Puna and Hilo highlights and is located between the town centers of Pahoa and Keaau. Being only three miles from a dramatic coastline that attracts whales during the winter, the Puna area attracts hikers, bikers, and those that want to experience Pele's landscape.
