A beautiful vacation retreat

We stayed at Volcano Hapu'u Fern Cottage for a week, and were so happy with our accommodations. The setting is incredible, with 12 foot tree ferns surrounding the house, and such comfort details inside. Even the interior decorations are so wonderful -a wonderful collection of Hawaiian decorative items.

The location is great for exploring south and east Big Island. Hilo is close enough to drive in for dinner, though it's not necessary because the restaurants in Volcano are great. We especially appreciated staying in a quiet, backroads where most people we met were local. Tourists are a small minority here.

We also liked being so close to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. The park entrance fee is good for a full week, and the park is so big, with so much to see, we were happy to be able to return and spend a lot of time exploring this amazing National Park.

And then, coming back at days end, there is a private hot tub, cable TV, a full kitchen if you don't feel like eating out, and all the comforts of home.

We just loved this place.

Our stay at Volcano Hapu'u Fern Cottage was really beautiful and we enjoyed especially the friendliness and hospitality of the owners Karen and Terry. They are wonderful people. The cottage has everything you need and wish to have for a perfect stay on Big Island. Everything is perfectly clean and loving arranged. And using the hot tub after a long and exciting day of exploring the Island made a wonderful day in paradise perfect!

5th Anniversary The Best Getaway Ever

This was an awesome place to stay. The property is easily found off of highway 11, and the managers are easy to reach for confirmation and directions. If you want peace and quiet and time alone with your special someone, this is the place for you. Every morning we were greeted by the sight of wild birds eating from the bird feeder and pheasant wandering around the property. A beautiful yard landscaped to perfection. Cool clean air outside, warm and wonderful decor inside. We were just amazed at how beautifully kept everything was. There's also a hot tub and an outdoor grill should the mood for soak and a steak strike you. My husband and I loved it. The fireplace was wonderful, especially since the weather is so cool up there. Also, the appliances look like new and there is cookware provided. The continental breakfast had so much variety. Fruits, English muffins, waffles with guava jelly and butter were all included, along the best coffee ever! This place was wonderfully stocked. We were just a few miles from a romantic dinner at the Volcano House. This place was a couple's dreams come true. It's great for families as well, since there are two bedrooms along with an extra futon. The owners are extremely nice and helpful. They totally made our stay so comfortable, and since it was our anniversary we got a bottle of champagne to celebrate. We were treated like royalty, and couldn’t ask for more. The house is about 30 minutes out of Hilo, where you can go shopping and eat. It's close enough and yet far enough were you get the comforts of stores and the seclusion of the country. It made our 5th anniversary unforgettable. We would definitely recommend this place to a friend or relative and we will definitely return.

we stood 5 nights in thie beautiful house in the forest of volcanovillage.the rooms are full of nice items and beautyful design.one night when it was little colder we could use the woodstove giving us a perfect heat.
but the most was the owners who helped us in everything we needed-even to find a new place to stay in our next destination.

Super location with respect to Volcanoes NP (about 5 minutes from the entrance). Clean, nicely kept house that was also in a very quiet area. Good service and prompt interaction with the owner. Reasonably priced for our (3 adults) stay. I had a great time, and would recommend it to other people with similar activity plans.
