DELIGHTFUL CRAFTSMAN HOME IN TRANQUIL GARDENS IN OLD PT REYES

Point Reyes Station House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Welcome to the historic Creamery Cottage, built in 1915 for the foreman of the old Point Reyes Creamery in the days when butter was king in this town. The railroad, which gives us the 'Station' portion of our name, ran right by our home taking butter, Russian River redwood, and passengers to San Rafael. Across Mesa Road from us is the old historic engine house (locally known as the 'Green Barn') where standard guage locomotives were once exchanged for the narrow guage engines required for the run up to Russian River. You can enjoy authentic photos of this time in our history in the second bedroom of our home.

The days of chugging engines are long gone in Point Reyes and now you couldn't imagine a more tranquil setting for your stay in glorious West Marin. Set on a quiet and private half-acre of roses, natives plants, lavender and fruit trees, near the heart of the Village, our immaculately preserved Craftsman Period home beautifully evokes old California.

The comfortable and stylish interior of our two-bedroom CREAMERY COTTAGE is furnished with antiques and has all the comforts of home: fully-equipped kitchen, dining room with built-ins, piano in sunroom, small study, and elegant living room. LUXURIATE IN OUR COYUCHI ALL-COTTON ORGANIC SHEETS, TOWELS, AND ROBES, as well as our state-of-the-art new CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEM (rare in West Marin)! Enjoy the view of Inverness Ridge from our dining room table. Pick seasonal fruits in our garden: apples, cherries, figs, peaches, pears, plums, and blackberries. After a hike in the National Seashore, put your feet up and read a book in our warm and cozy living room, or relax on the deck overlooking a lovely fountain courtyard. Have a picnic in the pretty rose, sage, and lavender-scented garden.

Walk over to the main street of one of California's most charming small towns and savor the 'foody' delights of our renown Farmer's Market, Bovine Bakery, the Station House Cafe, Stellina restaurant, and Cowgirl Creamery. Enjoy world class music at the Dance Palace or browse in one of the best bookshops in Northern California. This is an ideal spot for those who like to balance a wilderness experience with some style and comfort. And because we offer significant discounts for stays of longer than a week or month, this would be an ideal retreat for writers or artists.

We are a family of four who live in the San Francisco East Bay, but have deep roots in West Marin. Creamery Cottage is our family home and dear to our hearts. We love to learn how our guests are also touched by this place.

Andrew Walmisley purchased this house in 2003

I have had a life long passion for the Point Reyes area. This house is perfect for us because it is close to the wilderness, yet charming and comfortable. We also love our beautiful garden, which can be enjoyed year-round. The location of the house is ideal and we take pleasure in just strolling over to the town's main street to get the New York Times, a pastry at the Bovine, and a latte at Toby's Feed Barn. We often go walking by Papermill Creek in the early evening. That is, by the way, a great place to go blackberrying!

I love walking into town to 'talk story' with local people; eating bear claws at the Bovine Bakery; browsing in the book shop; walking by Papermill Creek; hiking the trails of Point Reyes; going to the beach at Hearts Desire.

COZY COTTAGE!

We enjoyed a lovely long weekend at the Creamery Cottage. The house was clean, cozy and tranquil. The treats from the Bovine Bakery were a delicious surprise! The garden was beautiful and relaxing. A great spot to stay in Point Reyes!

SO COMFORTABLE

  • 5 of 5
This house is beautiful (with lots of great detail) but it's also just really comfortable. The master bed is super comfy, but aside from that, it's the details that really makes this a nice place to spend some time. For example, every comfortable chair/couch in the living room has a reading lamp next to it.

The two sun rooms are lovely and the garden is amazing. It's huge and extremely well taken care of.

The proximity to shops and restaurants is great (it's a very short walk) and it really still feels quiet and secluded. Again, the details... the tall hedges around the property means there is always privacy, even in the garden.

Andrew was very easy to work with and very nice. I highly recommend this property.

THE PERFECT RENTAL FOR A WEEKEND OR LONGER

  • 5 of 5
It was my wife's and my good fortune to discover the Creamery Cottage on VRBO. We loved the little town of Point Reyes Station and had stayed near there several times in other BnBs. However, we were looking for a place where we could invite friends and family to come visit us and needed more room and a kitchen large enough to cook for them. The Creamery Cottage fit our needs perfectly and had many other advantages too: it's roomy, well-lit with windows all around, a beautiful garden , a complete laundry, a small deck, and a big dining table for our guests. It also has a delightful sun rooom with a comfortable couch where I have now read many books and, since it's so cozy, taken a few naps. The Cottage's location is exceptionally convenient: it's only two walking blocks from a grocery store, a filling station, a bank, a pharmacy, a bakery, a bookstore, a diner, and the postoffice. And, you have all that beautiful countryside surrounding you. The Creamery Cottage is as comfortable as my own home. I could live there and be happy.

PERFECT PEACEFUL GET AWAY

  • 5 of 5
My husband, 1 year old son, and I had a wonderful long weekend here. It was perfect. The cottage is clean, comfortable, and incredibly peaceful and relaxing. The garden is beautiful, and it's a block or two from the main strip of town and a very short drive to great hikes and beaches. Andrew was friendly and accommodating, and made sure our stay was perfect. We loved it and can't wait to go back.

EXCELLENT MEMORIES OF THE CREAMERY COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed this lovely home and the area finding the ambiance quite relaxing. What drew us to the house was the craftsman style, gardens, books, and piano (that my kids practiced on everyday). The local grocery store and restaurants were excellent and in walking distance. Andrew was most helpful with tips and going above and beyond for our experience. We were very pleased with a welcome basket when we arrived and mailing a shirt back to our home that we left there accidentally. We also spent time driving and hiking to various points of the park - a great time of year to see whales, sea lions, tide pools (at low tide), etc. We hope to come back another time.

KATHRYN M

  • 5 of 5
I had the most amazing 6 day stay at Creamery Cottage. The description of the cottage doesn't do it justice. When I walked in I just said "WOW". A serene feeling came to me when I walked through the door. Cookies and fresh fruit welcomed me - Yummy. The amenities were plentiful. Creamery Cottage is lovely, intimate, fresh and relaxing. Started the morning with Peets coffee in the garden by the water fountain and Mother Nature; a calming way to begin my day.

I found Pt. Reyes Station to be very welcoming and low key. Walked to the Bovine Bakery for coffee and bear claw, mingled with the locals, Farmers Market at Toby's, meals at Pt. Reyes Station Cafe, cheese and crackers at Cowgirl Creamery, shopping plentiful (had to buy the bedding at Coyuchi because the Cottage's sheets were delightful), hiking on the trails and beaches.

I highly recommend the Creamery Cottage to anyone that wants to just relax and hang out and enjoy life. I would also recommend this lovely home to the person that wants to get up and go and explore nature and come back to the tranquility of the cottage.

Thank You Andrew & Family
