About Sara

I am a registered nurse and have a private practice in Healing Touch and Craniosacral Therapy. I was a Rehab Nurse for 10 years in the coal mines in 3 states. My first career was a social case worker. I also own a consignment business. I enjoy sharing this delightful cottage with my guests.

Sara purchased this house in 2007

Why Sara chose Blowing Rock

Blowing Rock and the High Country region is very beautiful. These are the oldest mountains in the world. There are lots of outdoor activities and friendly people. The cottage is centrally located near Boone and Blowing Rock.

What makes this house unique

It is great to hear the little creek that wraps around the cottage. Children enjoy playing in the creek. I am pet friendly. You can see lots of birds, chipmunk, deer and raccoon from the cottage. It is cozy and relaxing and I try to be flexible with my guests and their needs.

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Sara's cabin - 4 people + dog - and had a great time! It has a very homey feel to the place and was perfect for our family. We enjoyed walking in the woods around the cabin and loved having the creek just outside the place. We definitely recommend this place and hope to come back this summer/fall.

Lovely Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Sara's cottage for a relaxing weekend in February with our 2 dogs. It had just snowed a few days before and again while we were there which made for pretty scenery. We enjoyed cuddling up in the cottage and watching the birds and squirrels at the bird feeder. We also took our dogs for a nice walk and took the short drive into Boone to a little bakery for some desserts! Would love to come back in the summer, too! Sara was easy to communicate with and the cottage was perfect for our little family!

Beautiful retreat between 2 great places

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cabin from Sara and simply loved it. Our 2-4 legged children loved watching the abundance of wildlife nearby. We chose to spend our Thanksgiving weekend there and it was great. Snow was still on the ground from a couple of days before. The cabin is centrally located between Boone and Blowing Rock, it took about the same amount of time to get to either. Sara is simply a great person and enjoyed talking to her on the phone. The cabin is quite comfortable and relaxing in its natural setting. Would definitely be going back there soon, we love this area and its beauty.

Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 2 dogs thoroughly enjoyed our weekend here. We have 2 babies ünder the age of 2 so the quiet, calm of this cottage was so great for us to escape for a few days. My dogs loved all the wildlife by the creek! The cottage is well-kept and comfy and so cute. We loved burning a fire and just relaxing watching the animals through all the awesome windows overlooking the creek. We hope to come back in warmer weather to walk all the closeby trails. Sara was great to work with, and gave us a late check out. The price cannot be beat - best we could find and for such a perfect little place! Thank you Sara for sharing your place with us!

Excellent cottage

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is a great place to stay. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in Sara's cottage. It was exactly as described. There are so many features of this cottage that we loved. It was clean, comfortable, and convenient to anything we needed. When looking for a place to stay we would definitely recommend this cottage. We would love to stay in this cottage again. We are so lucky to have chosen this cottage, and had the pleasure of meeting Sara. If you are looking for a place to stay, choose this cottage and you will not be disappointed.

Needs maintenance and upgrade

  • 2 of 5

My wife and I stayed here along with our 2 k9s. Our review would be very similar to the prior review

dated in October 2012. The property is in need of maintenance (toilet and shower controls especially, cleaning up the junk, exposed propane pipe and high weeds on the grounds, mold on the top front area of refrigerator, a general inside clean up, particularly the windows, roof outside bedroom area has moss growing).

The 13 inch screen tv remains an issue, the upstairs mattress offers precious little back support, the

stove has no timer, kitchen utensils and towels are scanty.

Favorable items; cable tv and internet worked well during our stay, the price here is lower than many other cabins and no extra fees are charged, good bird/squirrel feeders, convenient to lots of hiking and to Boone (if one knows how to get there, directions are not provided by the owner).

Owner's Response: I would have been happy to provide directions if you had asked for them. Most folks have gps on cell phones now. Sorry you did not like my cottage.
