Sportsman's Paradise! Wonderful Cabin located in Walhalla, MI, 25 miles east of Ludington, in the heart of The Manistee National Forest, offers thousands of acres of public land for hunting, dirt biking, ATV, and snowmobiling. The Pere Marquette River, one of Michigan's top producers of rainbow, brown, brook, and steelhead trout, Chinook and Coho salmon is only a mile away. The beautiful Ludington beaches, on the shores of Lake Michigan, are a mere 20 minutes away. Along with Little River Casino just 30 minutes away. Relax on the peaceful wrap-around deck overlooking Casin Lake and watch the wildlife all around. On those cold nights, sit around one of the 2 fire pits, or snuggle in around the wood stove, and enjoy the knotty pine interior of this cottage. Casin Lake is a shallow non-swimming Lake. Very peaceful lake perfect to row around in the rowboats. We do all reservations through Email. Respond through this site.

A must stay for pet owners!

My husband and I went up with our 3 dogs to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Although the weather was less then ideal (cold and rainy), we still had a fantastic time. The cabin was very clean, comfortable and cozy with a great view of the colors, woods and lake. We didn't have to leave if we didn't want to! They provided us with all of the amenities of home. Our dogs had a wonderful time and it was very comfortable for them as well. We really appreciated that we could bring them with us! We will definitely come back!

The only complaints we had were that the bed was not very comfortable and the dvd player was very fussy. It worked for one of our movies but not for the other 2. Not sure why....??

We went to Emerson Lake Inn for dinner and Old Hamlin (in Lundington) for lunch and both were (surprisingly) very good. We also went to Jamesport Brewing for drinks and apps and Scotty's for dinner (both in Ludington) and they were just ok for food but Jamesport's beers were great.

We can't wait to come back in the summer when the weather is better!
Owner's Response: We love to hear that people still have a great time despite the, at times, unpredictable Michigan weather! We try our best to address all issues and make changes/upgrades as possible. We always hope that renters next stay will be as good if not better than their first!

great place to chill and have fun!

My girlfriend and I took our two dogs for a week in late August 2008 and had a blast! The cabin is clean, has everything you need, including knockout views of their pond and woods and lots of privacy, plus the dogs were in a state of delirium from the exercise and swimming in the nearby Pere Marquette River.

The online description is apt and in addition I'd say for city folks like us who are never really isolated from others (except for deer, hawks, an eagle and some critters), this was a treat. At the cabin you can both disappear and in a few minutes' drive be at a local eatery or off on a canoing, kayaking, swimming, or other adventure. We're not into shooting animals or catching fish, but if you are this appears to be the ideal place for those sorts of activities (though hunting for sport eludes me, but I digress).

Sipping morning coffee on the deck looking out over the sun-drenched pond from their wooden swing is almost worth the price of the rental in itself. We'll be back!

Manistee Forest Getaway

This lovely cabin, appropriately named "The Pines," overlooks a small lake in the Manistee Forest. It was just as the owner described, clean, well-maintained, and secluded. The cabin is located about 20 miles inland from Lake Michigan so it's near enough for beach trips, plus there are several canoeable rivers in the area. The famous ice cream shop in nearby Baldwin ("since 1947") is worth the 10-mile drive. This is a great vacation spot for nature lovers.

Upon arrival, we were very pleasantly surprised with the cabin itself - very clean and well equipped. The kitchen had just about everything we needed. The HVAC system worked well as we needed both the AC and Heater during the week. Our teen-aged kids enjoyed their own loft with the TV and DVD player. We were glad to have had Cable as we depended on the Weather Channel to plan our week's activities, including a couple of days on the beach in Ludington. The back deck was perfect for relaxing (in the swing), reading and BBQing. Our Golden Retriever enjoyed laying in the sun on the deck also. The guys thoroughly enjoyed fishing on the lake, even though it was shallow in a lot of places. The Blue Gill and Bass were biting at almost every cast, and they were all good sized fish! I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends, especially dog owners. It was so nice to find a place like this that accepted dogs! And I loved how it was secluded - it was so peaceful and relaxing there! We will be returning again!!!
