This four season home is located in the heart of the NH Lakes Region in historic Meredith, NH on Lake Waukewan, a wonderful family lake. Just one mile to Lake Winnipesaukee and close to all Lakes Region and White Mountain attractions. The home was fully renovated in 2003 with a new kitchen and two new bathrooms. It has a private waterfront lot just steps from the house and with 125' of water frontage and its own beach and dock. The beach is level and great for swimmers of all ages. The house has a very large deck with grill. In the Winter, enjoy cross-country skiing, ice fishing, or downhill skiing (Gunstock is 15 minutes away, and Loon and Waterville Valley are just 35 minutes away).

This location is great for boating, swimming, fishing, and hiking in the Spring, Summer, and Fall, and for downhill or cross-country snow skiing and ice fishing in the Winter. We stayed at this home in July '09 and enjoyed many positive things about this house. First, the first floor is spacious and well updated, especially the kitchen. It is also close to Lake Winnepausakee, and we enjoyed the dock for fishing and boating. We had very small children with which we were planning on swimming and enjoying the "beach" area...unfortunately, we couldnt see the house from the beach so during naps we were limited to the house. Also, the "beach" area was not appropriate for swimming as there was green muck and large plants growing at knee's length which was a huge disappointment for everyone. Also, the upstairs "bedroom" is a loft which did not have a door, therefore opening the space into the kitchen making AM and PM naps incredibly difficult as the sound carried right upstairs.

Overall, there were some positives about this property, including the size of the yard, the quiet area, and the updated kitchen and first floor. However, for two families with 4 children under the age of 6, some of whom were still taking 2 naps a day, we were disappointed in the overall experience especially in regards to the being able to swim at the lake.

Quiet, relaxing and friendly area plus lovely lake

We stayed here in August 20007 - never having been to this part of America before, we were impressed by how laid back, quiet and well kept everywhere was. This house was a very short walk to the lake in a really quiet little circular road - we hardly heard a noise or saw another person whilst here for the week. All the rooms, apart from the bunk room, were spacious and clean. I felt that the owners were still working on the upstairs loft that contains the double and single beds together in one room as they weren't well finished like the downstairs. Lovely spacious kitchen/dining area - which was unfortunately very dark - could do with a lot more light bulbs in here. Kitchen was well equipped - microwave, dishwasher, funny toaster thing but with one essential missing for the English tourist - a kettle! Some lovely restaurants in town - particularly the bakery and the three restaurants which are in the same chain - all different styles, all really good. Loads of watersports around, although we couldn't hire a boat on the lake nearest the house. We had fun using the kayaks on the lake.

All in all a lovely introduction to New England and the smaller 'village' lifestyle. You would definitely need a car to stay here - there is about a one mile walk into town.
