Peaceful rural retreat

We’ve stayed in a number of vacation rentals – among them a casita in Santa Fe, an apartment in Paris, a condo in Key West, a studio in New York City – and I believe that the converted barn at Old Moses Farm is the nicest of them all. It’s spacious, it’s quiet, it’s well-appointed, and Kip Lindsay is a gracious and accommodating host. You have all the comforts of home and more, including small amenities such as a picnic basket, candles on the dining table, a multitude of towels and a nice big work table for your maps and guide books and laptop.
The rural setting is secluded (with incredible views), yet centrally located and convenient to most of Vermont and New Hampshire. The local general store has just about everything you could want, including the Sunday New York Times, and Kip’s advice about what to see and what to avoid is very helpful. If you’re looking for vacation lodging that’s within walking distance of gift boutiques, tour buses and fudge shops, then Old Moses Farm isn’t for you. But we were looking for a peaceful slice of Vermont off the beaten path, and we found it here. We’d come back in a heartbeat.
