Quinta Mateus (with its Stable) is a charming converted 18th Century farm set in a rural location close to the pretty town of Loule and the renowned golf courses at Vale do Lobo. There are lovely views across the Algarve Hills. There is some road noise from the newly built motorway with its excellent links across the region and the house is priced accordingly but is a great base for golfers or guests who want to explore the attractions of the area and therefore represents excellent value. Quinta do Jardim nestles on a lush, herb covered hillside between the coast and the mountains near to the market towns of Loule and Sao Bras de Alportel. This is the secret heart of the Algarve where wild almond, fig and pomegranate trees grow around villages whose simple charms and whitewashed houses give the feeling of having stepped back in time. Sao Bras has an Intermarche supermarket and a farmers market on Saturdays. There are plenty of bars and some really good restaurants. The pretty market town of Loule is only a short drive away - the narrow alleys of the old town are full of potters, saddlers and coppersmiths. There is a daily covered market selling seafood, fruits and vegetables alongside locally made pottery. On Saturdays the town is vibrant with its market spilling onto the surrounding streets and alleyways – a great opportunity to buy sardines, dried fruit and local game. There is also a brand new large Continente supermarket – Portugal’s answer to Sainsburys. There are numerous small towns and fishing villages on the coast between Faro and the Spanish border – particularly worth visiting is Olhao, which is renowned for its fish market and numerous seafood restaurants, and the elegant town of Tavira with its roman bridge spanning the water and riverside restaurants.

There are lots of water parks and entertainment for children – the Waterslide Park at Quarteira and the very popular Zoomarine at Guia which is close to Albufeira, where there are dolphin displays, seals and sea lions and fascinating tropical birds.

There is a 20% deposit payable at the time of booking with the balance to be paid 6 weeks prior to arrival.
