Relax and enjoy the charms of downtown Mystic. Located on the historic property of Captain William Morgan, an 18th century sea captain, this private Carriage House is situated just a 1/4 block from downtown.. in the heart of Mystic, but also quiet & secluded. A very 'Norman Rockwell-like' setting!

I have stayed in this cottage myself - with friends - and sent my parents for a short stay. Both times we were thrilled with the amenities, the location, and the trip overall. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for the perfect getaway in Mystic. I know the town well and this is a real gem.
Quaint romantic close to everything. We stayed in the larger cottage which had all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The garden was very relaxing to unwind after a day of bicycling and walking around town. Susan was a great host and we look forward to staying with her again. Would be great for a girlfriends get away too….
Our daughter and new son-in-law chose Mystic, Ct for their wedding venue this past September. Our family and friends rented both Carriage Houses and also the Captain William Morgan Main house from Sue.
Our experience was nothing short of amazing!! Each carriage house was intimate, inviting, fresh and clean. Wonderful full-sized bathrooms, (amazing considering the size of the cottages), and again, so well taken care of. The backyard of the carriage houses are a lovely, perfect place to relax on an evening with bistro tables, flowers, and a fire pit.
That brings me to the large main house, which with a few steps on a well worn path between the carriage house location, is right next door. Stepping into the gorgeous large backyard and up to the porch of the Captain William Morgan.
With this property, Sue has again kept the best of the old home features while offering an extremely clean, comfortable, inviting home which has every convenience you could ask for! Filled with light, this property welcomes you home while encouraging you to throw that wonderful "Night Before the Wedding" dinner~which is just what we did!!
How special it was to be able to host all of our dear friends and family to such a beautiful spot on such a special occasion! The backyard is over-sized for such an in town location, fire pit here also, and watching folks kayak on the water from the large back porch was an unexpected treat.
Thank you SO much to Sue who answered EVERY question we had....from "Who could cater a barbecue there?" (Chesters in Groton was Fantastic!) to table rentals, (Arrow Rental in New London) We were able to create a wonderful, memorable experience.
Thank you Sue for the many little things you did, such as loaning me those extra tablecloths!! Just for that weekend, she made us feel as though this really was 'our place'! The ability to walk two tenths of a mile to the downtown/drawbridge area was a luxury~We highly recommend the Engine Room for any festivities,(that is if you can bear to leave!)
Recommend this? But, of course!!!
We arrived on August 5th and left August 8th 2014. From the moment we arrived to time we left, our stay was great. Sue greeted us when we pulled in. We stayed in the larger side of the carriage house. The place was lovely. It was so nice to have a coffee maker and fridge so we could have breakfast at our leisure. We had asked Sue before we arrived to recommend restaurants and we tried S&P Oyster Company and Daniel Parker Inn. We would also recommend them. Kayaking on the Mystic River was beautiful. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives. We hope to be back next year.
My husband and two young sons stayed the weekend here and it was just beautiful. The cottage was comfortable and lovely. It could be in a magazine! We have never visited Connecticut before and between the town of Mystic and a wonderful place to relax we will definitely be coming back. You really feel like you are home here. We had a lovely weekend. Thank you so much!

we wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and could not have asked for a better place during our spring break! the carriage house (we stayed in the smaller unit) was the perfect place to settle in and take a break for a few days. upon our arrival, we parked the car and made the most out of the location by walking into town, grabbing a bite to eat (and an ice cream cone) and truly absorbing the charm of mystic.
sue was very hospitable and her hard work maintaining the property is evident in her attention to even the smallest details. "mayor" otto made sure to let us know he was available if we wanted some extra company during our stay. :-)
the location of the carriage house made it easy for us to enjoy the best parts of the area without feeling like we had to take another road trip once we "checked in" . we picked up a mystic pizza and a bottle of wine the first night and our only complaint was that we wished for a little less chill in the air so that we could've shared it on the patio outside. we made a trip to foxwoods for bingo one evening and found the drive to be quick, quiet and especially pleasant ("especially" after winning a few bucks!)
overall, a wonderful stay and we hope to come back and visit again!
The following are a very short drive from the Carriage House: the Mystic Aquarium, the beautiful coastline of Connecticut & Rhode Island with many beaches & state parks, Foxwoods & Mohegan Sun Casino's, wineries, hiking, & tennis to name a few. Also, the town of Mystic offers many different seasonal activities year round. If I can offer any further information please feel free to call or email. I can also arrange a welcoming basket to fit any occasion, just ask! Best wishes!
