The name of Orleans is inseparably linked with that of Joan of Arc and there is evidence of her everywhere: in satues, her life history depicted in the cathedral's stained glass windows, the house where she stayed in 1429. The city, on the beautiful and wild River Loire, is also the centre of its own wine producing area and the town has more than enough to keep a visitor happy, in particular the old part, which has many fine buildings. Some of the greatest chateaux of the Loire are within reasonable driving distance and the cottage is ideally placed for a day in Paris or Versailles. Fontainebleau on the outskirts of Paris is only 85 kms. Chartres magnificent cathedral is 70 kms.

A precious jewel in the Loire Valley

cito White Plains, NY , USA
Review Submitted: May 5, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
How lucky we were to discover this home away from home.Le Pot Vert lives up to its reviews from satisfied ...more than
satisfied ... guests like us.

Frederique and Remi, our charming hosts, made our stay warm and delightful from start to end ...though we wish we could have
stayed longer. The cottage is fully fitted out with comfy duvets, fresh and clean linens ...the fridge full ...a substantial dinner to greet us ... and fresh croissants and homemade confitures for our first breakfast.

Every room matched the warmth of our hosts, always with extra
thoughtful gestures like chocolates, after dinner liquers,
Annik Goutal bath and shower amenities, etc..

An example of their attention to detail: We found a full library of
literature about the area, guide books to sites of interest, maps galore (Bob had brought lots which we never had to use) bikes to take excursions, CDs, movies extraordinaire, train schedules, a beautiful garden to breakfast in, and the chateaux practically at our doorstep.

We can't wait to visit again. Merci mille fois ...helene et robert

Perfect Introduction to France

Didsbury Didsbury, Alberta, Canada
Review Submitted: November 3, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We had the good fortune to stay at Le Pot Vert last spring. It was a great experience.

Le Pot Vert has been in the owners' family for generations. It has been lovingly maintained to retain its original character, but with the tasteful addition of modern conveniences. Considerable attention has been paid to details that make one's stay special. These include beautiful linens, a collection of local interest magazines and travel books, and other small luxuries. Upon arrival, the owners provided us with fresh pastries from a local bakery and French wine. Heaven. The house was a comfortable size for our party of four.

The house is situated within a beautiful property that combines formal gardens alongside a good-sized grove of natural trees. Our young children loved the graveled paths that led them around topiaries and into the "forest".

The owners are lovely. They successfully stuck the balance between giving us space and being accessible to answer questions or provide assistance. They were always gracious and kind to both us and our children.

Le Pot Vert is located within a short distance of Orleans and within easy driving distance of many French castles. We had a great time exploring the area.

This was our first trip to France. We could not have asked for a better introduction than what we experienced here. We highly recommend Le Pot Vert.

Le PotVert Outside Orleans France

Bambiekat Sonoma California
Review Submitted: September 22, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Lovely old home owned by family since 1715. Family lives on the property in the larger house. 1800 sqaure foot cottage that has all the comforts of home. Everything works well. Plenty of hot water, good water pressure, washer-dryer, 16 cubic foot size fridge, 4 burner electric stove with oven, toaster, coffee & tea makers, 26" TV, AM/FM radio with CD player, iffy Wi-fi internet signal usually works, it's free. Decor is authentic french wine country and cute, cute, cute.

Friendly family dogs and cats will play with you and the kids.

Cottage can sleep up to 6 people. Bedrooms upstairs. Narrow wood staircase is NOT handicap accessible. Twin beds are comfy if a bit lumpy & old feeling. Main queen size bed is fine, it's firm! Good quality linens, clean & fresh smelling.

Owners are the nicest people, especially warm, friendly, helpful, interesting and humorus. Frederique speaks English much better than husband Dr. Remy. If you are Francophone you will be treated like close family.

I plan to stay here again.
Owner's Response: I don't understand what you mean about the twins beds ? They are both new with new matress !

LE POT VERT

JBG Virginia, USA
Review Submitted: December 11, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
Our stay at Le pot Vert was most enjoyable. It was everything it was represented to be. Arrival was seamless with excellent explanations, supplies and an everything-functioning household. Also, Frederique, the owner, was most responsive with respect to all questions we had as the week progressed even volunteering a mobile GPS system for us to use during our stay. The house is very well stocked with guide books, maps, general reading, dvds, cds and kitchen provisions. Le pot Vert certainly provides plenty of room if you are just two people like we were, however, two bedrooms are not equal if you are a party of four or more. The property on which Le pot Vert sits is beautifully maintained, and the surrounding area is pleasantly residential with very good food shopping close by. Our day trips to the various chateaux in the Loire Valley worked out very well, and Orleans turned out to be a more interesting city than many of the guide books represented.
Owner's Response: Well... in 7 years ,many , many parties of 4 people had been staying in the cottage : in the yellow bedroom the single 2 beds can be easily joined together , we had extremly few parties of 6 ( just families with children ) .

A Week in Paradise

Brooks Howey in the Hills, FL, USA
Review Submitted: October 19, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We have been traveling with our best friends, Joyce and Bill Herrington, for the past five years. Our trips have been to many places and we thought we had found the best in Paris when we rented a beautiful apartment right on the Seine and enjoyed a delightful enriching and history filled vacation in the heart of that beautiful city. We enjoyed that trip so much we decided to visit Burgundy and the Loire Valley in July 2008. In our internet research we discovered Le Pot Verte. It was centrally located for the various day trips we planned in the Loire Valley. We would be staying on the grounds of a Chateau that had been in Remi's family for many generations. The pictures of the charming two-story house showed us the kitchen, living room, dining room, outside terrace in the garden, two bedrooms and two baths. It was very old and very modern at the same time. There were formal gardens for walking, a lovely and welcoming swimming pool and a formal rose garden with fountain. We had found magic. The name Le Pot Verte is perfect for everything is green and luscious. We thought it could not get any better, but we were wrong. When we arrived Frederique, Remi's wife, introduced us to her wonderful four legged children. We had been looking forward to sharing them, as we have four dogs at home and Joyce has wonderful cats. We had the company (if we wished) of all of them and we took advantage every day. Then came the best part, a fully stocked refrigerator and cupboard with more wonderful foods for us and glorious baguettes, croissants and fresh fruit. Of course, I mustn't leave out the lovely wines and fully stocked bar for our enjoyment if we wished. The kitchen was as stocked as my kitchen at home and then some. Remi is a Doctor and Frederique is a very proficient gardener. We were in good hands. Our week spent with them was perfect. We truly experienced a week of living the French life. We wanted for nothing. The Archambault's are world travelers and know how the make their guests welcome and to enjoy their guests as well. They are the perfect hosts and we hope to return someday soon to revisit two people that we now feel are our good friends.
