Just like the song, the dilemma is 'Should I stay or should I go?' Staying on the property means enjoying a comfortable home with all of its abundant amenities including a new floating dock system just a mere few feet away from the house (New construction has to be 75 feet back, however, this home is just a stone's throw from the water). Of course, those that like to get up and go can get to L.L. Bean and the Freeport outlets within 25 minutes. Bowdoin College and downtown Brunswick are 10 minutes away. Cook's Lobster House is just minutes away on the next island. Edgecomb Pottery is always an artful destination. Lots of day trip opportunities to Camden, Rockland, Wiscassett, Damiscotta, Popham Beach and Reid State Park. Music and theatre performances are at Bowdoin. A 10-cinema movie complex right at Cook's Corner about 10 minutes away. There's even a Starbucks! To get here, drive 2.5 hours from Boston, 40 minutes north of Portland, just south of Bath.

    The weekly rental rate for Peak season (3rd week of June through to Labor Day week) includes 5 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, 2 kitchens, 2 living rooms, 2 decks, private floating dock, approximately 10 acres and 700 feet of oceanfront private wooded property, use of 4 LL Bean Manatee kayaks and 1 LL Bean Old Towne canoe, high speed cable access, Linksys wireless router, along with linens, sheets, towels, paper consumables etc. is $2,750. Additionally, there is a $250 cleaning/laundry fee and the 7% Maine use tax. Rates are reduced after Labor Day week through to end of October.
  • Ideal for families that like to vacation together but want to have separate quarters for privacy. Two homes in one. Large laundry room separates these two separate living accommodations yet it is all on one level. Want the kids to watch TV in their own living area? Want the adults to enjoy their own deck? Everyone wins. Two decks, two living areas, two kitchens. Too good to be true! Sound too big for your group? During NON-peak season, rent the 3 BR home with 1.5 baths, kitchen, LR, private ocean facing deck and 'private' floating dock or rent 2 BR home with 1 bath, large kitchen w/DW, LR w/gas fireplace, private 16 x 14 deck and 'private' point right at the water's edge during NON peak season (post Labor Day week or pre-Memorial Day).

This approximately 10 acre waterfront property has three private coves, one of which is a 'sandy' cove and swimmers and clam diggers can wade into it. The floating dock is typically in the water from late May through October depending on the weather. Fishermen/women can try their luck right off of the rocks. Those lucky ones hook striper or bluefish. Available are four kayaks (LL Bean Manatee recreational variety) and one Olde Town canoe (LL Bean) than can be rowed or paddled.

Perfect House on the Maine Coast

I will be returning with seven women friends for repeat rental in June 2008. Hilda's houses look out on the water. In the morning, I sit on the deck, sip my tea, and watch the lobster fishermen check their traps. Later, I enjoy one of the provided kayaks as I paddle along the rocky coastline. The house is spacious, well kept, and very comfortable. Could not ask for more. Thank you, Hilda for providing this wonderful rental setting.

Relaxing, Engaging and Renewing

A fabulous place for our family reunion. Bringing 11 of us from three states across the US for a week to linger, connect and laugh. Three grandchildren loved it. Three children and spouses got time together and alone, and, as parents, we basked in all of the above. Everything we needed was there when we arrived and some things we did not expect. The setting invited casual walks, fishing, kayaking and much more. So glad we came. Thanks Hilda - you have a rare gem here!

Long Point Memories

Long Point is one of those rare places that will be etched in your memory long after you have returned from your vacation. That is why my girlfriends and I chose to return to our beloved Long Point to celebrate our 30th year reunion. The house is extremely comfortable, well equipped, beautifully decorated, and clean even down to great smelling towells. Each morning we'd wake up and look out the huge picture windows to sunshine bouncing on the water, lobstermen checking their traps surrounded by seagulls, seals swimming, and even dolphins this year. On our perfect sunny day some of us put the kayaks in the water and crossed over the bay to the next island while others chose to relax on the dock in the lounge chairs. The breathtaking sunrises, sunsets, and the night sky filled with so many stars is not to be missed. Long Point is the perfect place for large groups or a romatic holiday. Yes, we will return to our beloved Long Point and make more memories.

Longpoint Romantic Relaxation

My husband and I spent the second week of October in Longpoint after staying the first week of our vacation in eastern Canada. It was a wonderful cozy respite from our hectic daily schedules. The property was immaculate and the view from the kitchen and den area leave nothing to be desired. The kitchen, which is so important to those of us who love to cook, is a delight. Looking out the large windows watching boats go by and the leaves turning as we sipped our wine, is a treasured memory. The day it rained and turned cold was just right for staying in the comfortable bed and snuggling. We ate at Cooks of course and happily purchased a painting on our return trip that hangs in our den to remind us of the lovely getaway. We would reccommend seeing the Nautical Museum in nearby Bath for those interested in shipping history. I would reccomend this property to a wide variety of travellers.

Simple Pleasure

I can say nothing but good things about my second year of renting at Long Point. Host Hilda knocks herself out to make sure your stay is perfect. Everything is there to make your stay enjoyable.

There are many things to do in the area, or do nothing at all. Sit on the deck and watch the eagles soar, check out the lobster boats, or just sit and daydream... Long Point makes for a perfect vacation spot....
