While on this Great Island oceanfront property with about 700 feet of waterfront right on Casco Bay including three private coves, you can make friends with the lobster men right from the dock on Casco Bay, swim, paddle, fish,sail, shop, or just plain relax and let the water soothe your stresses away. +/- 10 acres, wooded oceanfront acres also adjacent to a fresh water pond.

This unique oceanfront year-round home has FIVE BR (also can be spilt into a 2BR or a 3BR home during NON peak season). It boasts of breathtaking views/expansive privacy (+/- 10 acres). While facing Quahog Bay and catching the morning sunrise, the 2 fully equipped separate eat-in kitchens have multiple windows facing the expanse of oceanfront just feet away from the water's edge. Each of the 2 living areas, also with multiple windows, are bright and cheery with their own private decks. Included: private dock, cable TV, 4 TVs, 4 DVD players, hi-speed cable Internet access, WiFi, gas FP, SIX kayaks,1canoe, Sunfish, 2 hammocks.

The floating dock is typically in the water from mid-May through mid-October depending on the weather. Fishermen/women can try their luck right off of the rocks. Those lucky ones hook striper or bluefish. Available are SIX kayaks (LL Bean Manatee recreational variety) and ONE Olde Town canoe (LL Bean) than can be rowed or paddled. Additionally, Sunfish (personal 1 -2 person sailboat) is now part of the Long Point fleet.

Long Point is a special little piece of heaven. For generations this property has been loved and maintained for decades. It has transitioned from the year round home of my in-laws into this wonderful vacation resort for my renters, so many of whom are repeaters from one year to the next.

Just like the song, the dilemma is 'Should I stay or should I go?' Staying on the property means enjoying a comfortable home with all of its abundant amenities including a new floating dock system just a mere few feet away from the house (New construction has to be 75 feet back, however, this home is just a stone's throw from the water).

Of course, those that like to get up and go can get to L.L. Bean and the Freeport outlets within 25 minutes. Bowdoin College and downtown Brunswick are 10 minutes away. Cook's Lobster House is just minutes away on the next island. Edgecomb Pottery is always an artful destination. Lots of day trip opportunities to Camden, Rockland, Wiscassett, Damiscotta, Popham Beach and Reid State Park. Music and theatre performances are at Bowdoin. A 10-cinema movie complex right at Cook's Corner about 10 minutes away. There's even a Starbucks!

Additionally, there is a $275 cleaning/laundry fee and the 7% Maine use tax. Rates are reduced after Labor Day week through to end of October. Each of the first three weeks of June is discounted from PEAK season.
  • Ideal for families that like to vacation together but want to have separate quarters for privacy. Two homes in one. Large laundry room separates these two separate living accommodations yet it is all on one level except for BR#5. Want the kids to play games in their own living area? A Piece of Paradise

From the moment you open the door and step inside this vacation home, you feel relaxed. When you look outside the 2 bay windows which overlook the ocean the only word that will come out will be "WOW." We stayed on the two bedroom side of the house, while our friends occupied the three bedroom side. You feel like you have your own home. Kayaking through the ocean coves is just spectacular. Any worries you have simply disappear. I was in awe of my surroundings. Chillin with friends, relaxing in the hammocks, early morning walks, reading a good book, sipping on a glass or two of wine while breathing the fresh Maine air....what more can you ask for? A Perfect Getaway / A Piece of Paradise. Enjoy!

Great family getaway at Long Point

We spent a peaceful week at Long Point. I wasn't sure how the two-houses-connected-a-laundry area would feel, but it worked really well. It allowed for both together time and a bit of privacy. The house has everything -- even speakers where you can plug in your iphone/ipod. We tended to cook and gather on the south side of the house, which had a larger, more open space for our party of ten. The dock was great and having the kayaks was a nice perk. The property is extremely large and well maintained. There was lots of space for both the teens and toddlers to do their things. We enjoyed watching the lobster boats, the loons and the hummingbirds. Hilda (the owner) was also great, going above and beyond the call of duty to help us. I recommend this property highly.

Fall Spectacular

Fantastic place, especially in the fall (Oct 2010). The foliage view across the water is spectacular. Also, can rent just 1/2 the property. Still, very private due to the size of the property - didn't even know anyone else was there. In addition to the waterfront amenities (kayaks, canoes, dock, lounge chairs and tables, etc) the house was well equipped with all appliances and a full complement of kitchen needs, right down blenders and wine openers.

Enjoyed waking up to sunrise on the waterfront! Can't wait to go back this year!

A Family Affair

Three generations (ages 2-66) spend a fantastic August 20-27th at Long Point. There was something for all ages and having a rental home with so much space really accomodated our needs. Two living rooms, kitchens and decks, all completely outfitted. There are plenty of dishes, glasses, cookware, even night lights!!
To be able to Kayak off the property any time during the day was a big draw, and there is a canoe for those who have toddlers. Though there is no real 'beach area' for the young ones (teens enjoy swimming off the dock) the sandy beach is located near by.
There were some quiet garden areas, as well as a point that looked at the rocky shore with comfy chairs.
For those who could bare to leave the property, there is a movie theatre, indoor skateboarding, theatre, shopping and much more.
While in Brunswick, we visited Richard's Restaurant which has fabulous German food, for a a change of seafood--which is available (lobs and steamers).

I would not hesitate to return

Great weekend away...

Hello.

If you are looking for an escape for a little while this is the place! It's a well designed comfortable home that one can use for a large group or two smaller groups. My husband and I stayed on both sides at different times and we have loved both sides for different reasons! One side has this sunny, short garden path/walk to a cliff point that we sunned and picniked and had a cocktail overlooking this ocean scene straight from a postcard. We sat back and just relaxed and talked and read and just really felt so treated to a nice haven. At night after gazing at the stars, we sat back and kept the coziness going when going inside with the gas fireplace and snuggled up in together. The other side has this sunny dock that you can beckon the lobsterman to come and deliver your lobster directly to you for a few dollars! I jumped in and swam for a bit and just loved being right on the ocean! Kayaking on a mild part of the secluded ocean is something we really enjoyed. It's so so nice.

My husband became amazed by the ocean and was certain we had to arise around 5am so we could watch the sun rise from the horizon. We watched the entire slow, moving sunrise with coffee brewing and I even saw an actual bald eagle soar in front of us ! It was amazing!

When staying on one side and not knowing the other renters on the other side was a concern at first, but I found out you do not even see or hear your neighbors and you feel totally separate from the other side. One last thing, the home is fully stocked with all necessary needs. I didn't want for a thing. I mean absolutely nothing. We brought our food and drinks and everything else was there for us! Just beautiful time!
