Shelter Cove is a unique coastal getaway nestled in the Lost Coast Wilderness. It is about a 45-minute drive from Garberville at Highway 101. The road there takes you through breathtaking views and ancient redwood forests until you reach Shelter Cove. There you will find a small village with panoramic views of the ocean, quiet black sand beaches and lots of intriguing tide pools. The three bedroom home can sleep up to 8 people and is located about 50 yards from the shore with unobstructed ocean views.

In addition to just kicking back, whale watching and enjoying the beautiful views from the house there are several alternative activities available nearby... Surrounding the airstrip is a beautiful 9-hole golf course. Reservations for tee-times can be made at the Shelter Cove Golf Links. Fishing charters and boat launching services are available for those interested in ocean fishing for Salmon, Halibut and bottom fish. Abalone diving is also available in the appropriate season. Hiking trails wind through the nearby Lost Coast Wilderness area and there are miles of scenic beaches to hike as well. Surfing is available at the beach at the Cove as well as 'Big Flats' which is within hiking distance of Shelter Cove. Big Flats is a local favorite for surfing. There are several restaurants in the cove as well as a deli that serves excellent fish & chips. Musical entertainment is also available at some of the restaurants.

Our house is located on Lower Pacific Drive directly across the street from the Pacific Ocean in Shelter Cove, CA. Shelter Cove is a unique coastal getaway nestled in the Lost Coast Wilderness. It is about a 45-minute drive from Garberville at Highway 101. The road there takes you through breathtaking views and ancient redwood forests until you reach Shelter Cove. There you will find a small village with panoramic views of the ocean, quiet black sand beaches and lots of intriguing tide pools. An airstrip is located within walking distance of the house and tie-downs are available.

Absolutely Perfect!

This is the perfect vacation home. The listing is accurate, but this home contains more than the minimum. There is an abundance of sheets, blankets and towels. More dishes than the average cook could use, and the books and games were wonderful. The house is well maintained, very clean and there was plenty of room for our group of 7.
The view couldn't have been better, we could walk to the best tide pools in town, but the beach was also in walking distance. Be sure to visit the Black Sands beach while you're there. It's just a short driving distance away, but well worth it.
There is a really good pizza place in town, and several other restaurants, but if you plan to do any cooking while there I would recommend stopping in Redway to grocery shop. There is one small store in Shelter Cove, but it's very expensive and doesn't have a great selection (except for their wine.)
In short, this house and location has everything you could want, a secluded location on the coast with the ocean right across the road. The house is stocked with more than you actually need, and is lovely and comfortable. The Buell's couldn't have been easier to work with, and their caretakers are right there in town in case you need something.

We just spent a wonderful week at your rental house. The view is spectacular. We spent many evenings watching the sun set and the waves crashing against the rocks.
Andrew and his friends were able to fish every day and they brought back salmon, ling cod, and crab.
Even though I do not fish, my friend and I went hiking in the Redwoods (about and hour away) and we took walks around Shelter Cove every day. We especially liked stopping to see the seals lounging on Seal Rock.
We look forward to coming back soon. We wouldn't want to stay anywhere else.

What a great vacation we had at your home in Shelter Cove!!! The view from your house is wonderful and we couldn't have asked for more perfect weather!! We played golf three mornings, went deep sea fishing and caught about 50 lbs of ling cod and rock cod and of course, did lots of walking on the rocks and checking out the tide pools!!!
