Photos and Description of the Freeland vacation cottage rental
3 bedrooms,2 baths,4th bedroom for kids in separate building, sleeps 7

Three bedroom with loft cedar clad bungalow above private Puget Sound beach. Separate kid's 'dorm' on 50X14 deck next to water, with 2nd ' kitchen', shower and covered area for relaxing at waters' edge. Custom home features dozens of leaded glass windows and panels, furnished tastefully with quality English antiques and modern electronics.

Hardwood floors with beautiful oriental rugs. New kitchen with stainless appliances and granite counters. Clear cedar or knotty pine covered walls. Tiffany style hand made lamps in all rooms. Stone faced gas fireplace in living room. Over 2300 square feet of decks and walkways overlook the harbor. French doors open to elegant new teak main deck and 6 person hot tub with incredible view. Low bank lot rises 30 feet above the lowest deck that abuts the bulkhead/boat launch. Steps go directly to your private beach.

Main bath has shower/ tub and glass block shower stall, with custom tile hand painted great blue heron.

Three sets of outdoor dining furniture, and lots of flowers growing in containers. Terrific view from all rooms except one. Lots of skylights and a glass covered breezeway are just off the french doors, so if it does rain, one can still sit outside. New hot tub with 2 pumps and new exotic wood cover for the tub arrived in early March 2007. Very private. Property has decorative night lighting on decks on timers. Cottage re roofed and painted June 2010, re landscaped spring 2010.

Property completely renovated with new insulation, new counter tops, new low e windows and skylights, newly rebuilt decks, new parking areas, new decks in front of property, new fencing, new irrigation system, new high efficiency laundry equipment. Outbuildings were rebuilt and have new roofs and paint. $60,000 spent on new private sanitation system in February 2010.

The cottage south of us was razed last year, and is a vacant lot.The cottage to the north is vacant until it is reconstructed. Private.

Dig butter clams or pick up mussels on the two sandy community beaches that are yours to use, as well as our own private beach. . Launch our 12 foot boat from our private ramp and catch Dungeness crab in season. Sit in the hot tub and watch the bald eagles and blue heron that appear every day. Salmon fishing in season. Swimming, water skiing, boating or sunbathing on our beach

Bring you own boat or watercraft if you like. Boats can be anchored or moored in front of our property. A mooring buoy is directly in front of our private beach, in 5 feet of water at low tide. Use one of the two fiberglass boats I own to reach your moored boat. Visit historic Coupeville or Langley by the sea for shopping, fine dining, both within 20 minutes by car, and downtown Seattle is an hours drive and a 12 minute ferry ride away. Walk the private beaches in solitude.Gray whales swim by in March, and Harbor seals, sea otters and sea lions are often seen.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (US Dollar) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • 135/185ngt;1000/1300wk.
  • Summer season (June 15-Sept 15 ) 1300 per week (minimum rental of one week) for up to four guests and 100 per week for each guest beyond four (unless two adult renters have more than 2 of their own minor children staying with them). Sept 16-June 14 rate is 1000 week 175 per night for Friday & Saturday& 135 other nights & 15 night for each guest beyond 4, with a 300 minimum..
    10 % off for second successive full week(s)during peak season; 20% off for non peak 2 wk. or more stays. There is a refundable cleaning/damage deposit of 200. There is a minimum rental reservation deposit of 300 to book the home for up to 5 nights , which will apply to the cost of the stay, due within 3 days of acceptance of the reservation, and a minimum deposit of 500 to book for 5 nights or more, which will also apply to the cost of the stay. For stays of 10 nights or more, the deposit is 50% of the cost of the stay. For returning guests, the deposit for all stays is 300.
  • Refundable deposit checks will not be cashed, unless property not cleaned by guest or property damaged. Non refundable reservation deposits are payable within 3 days of booking. Refundable deposit checks will be returned or destroyed within 3 days of guest's departure if property is cleaned and undamaged. Check in 3pm, or by prior arrangement, checkout 11a.m., or later by prior arrangement. Rates are 175 night between Dec 20 and Jan 1 and the two days prior to Thanksgiving., and on each night of 3 day weekend holiday periods & on Easter Sunday.

  • There is a outdoor shower on the deck by the water that is used in the summer, having its own hot water supply The master bath was custom made with an artistic rendering of a great blue heron on the ceramic tile surround, and is enclosed by glass block at the end and by stained glass panels above the glass sliding doors. The bath off the master bedroom has its own real porthole salvaged off of a ship that is set into the wall with a stained glass sailing ship behind the porthole. The second bath contains a stacking full size front load high efficiency washer and dryer, new in June 2009 Both baths are paneled with clear cedar and oak plank or teak floors. We have disabled the jacussi jets in the bathtub to reduce water consumption, as we maintain a twin pump 56 jet hot tub year around that does not require emptying into our new septic system

  • There is a sleeping loft in master bedroom that contains a twin bed. There is a 4th bedroom by the water in a separate building that has a loft with a king sized foam mattress. There is a dbl. bed sized futon in the living room with foam mattress.There is a blow up toddler bed, as well as a 'play and pack' that can serve as a pen/bed for a very small child.There is a king sized air bed with set up frame that is king sized.

My wife and I just spent 14 days at this idyllic location. Our 30 year old son joined us for 5 days. The location is serene and spectacular. The weather in late June and early July was cool and wonderful. We had only one day of rain and I was anticipating more (actually looking forward to more). We cannot imagine anything we wanted or needed which was not provided. We loved the deck, hot tub and view. We have returned home to Southern Nevada where todays temp reached 112. We are looking at realestate websites on Whidbey. Thank you Bruce and Kathy for making this wonderful vacation home available. Sincerely, Jim and Sharon

What a wonderful getaway - peaceful and quiet. We saw an eagle overhead within the first 15 minutes and many herons. Comfortable cottage with all the amenities for comfort. Great beach without any crowds, warm water. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definately come back again. Highly recommend!

Great Time!

I booked the house for a birthday weekend for my wife and we had a great time. We have 2 kids so it was great to spend the mornings on the beach and the afternoons on the patio with the amazing view. We hardly spent a minute inside as there was so much room on the deck and lots to do outside. Other than the weather it was the perfect weekend!

Awesome Lake House

I am my wife planned a last minute trip to whidbey Island along with 2 other friends. Luckily we got reservations for this property. I must admit, while approaching the inside road which takes you to the property in the middle of the night was excitingly thrilling. We were welcome by the nice ambiance of this house. Hot tub is great and refreshes your senses totally. Next day morning with the sun rise the real Lake view was clear. The environment is serene and i must admit the owner / manager of this property have very well maintained this house and equipped with everything you would facilitate at your own home.
Recommended for:  Adventure Seekers, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: These folks rented the cottage at the last minute when we had a cancellation that made it available. I am responding to this review only because the guests evidently thought that our cottage was just above a beautiful lake, rather than fronting on the salt water beach above Holmes Harbor. We appreciate them taking the time to review our cottage. We do not solicit the reviews, as we maintain a guest book on site for guests to write down their thoughts. The entire book is filled with thoughtful and appreciative comments by our guests.

Nice Whidbey getaway.....

Husband and I were able to spend 2 1/2 days at this mediumbank beach house. Very comfy, livable place and beautiful views. Really liked the kitchen area with everything you could possibly need, even a wine selection :). Great views from all the decks and hot tub. Very pretty Heron artwork in the bathroom. If the little sleeping loft down by the water had a bathroom we would have slept there-really a cute little setup --RIGHT at water's edge, older kids and teens would LOVE it.
The weather wasn't too cooperative for us but the views and hottub helped make up for it. We had a little weather break to clam dig and beach walk which was fun but not good enough to take a boat out or enjoy the firepits. Would love to come back during crab season!! Great wi-fi

A couple things to be aware of--we realized how out of shape we were after doing the stairs down to the beach and 'beach deck' a couple times! good handrails both sides but part of them quite steep, our middleaged knees complained --also, the main floor has 2 bathrooms, the master bedroom and another darling twin bedroom, but the other 2 bedrooms that are upstairs (no bathroom) are accessed *thru* the master bedroom up kind of a "ladder stairs"
