Charming Vineyard house at the end of a mile long dirt road. Among the best views on the Island. Ideal Vineyard atmosphere with an up-Island feel and down-Island convenience. Two private beaches. Spectacular views from master bedroom, sun deck and screened porch of Tashmoo Inlet and Vineyard Sound. Large fieldstone fireplace. Brick outdoor grill in beautiful backdoor garden. Furnished tastefully but comfortably for easy summer living. Eat-in French country kitchen. Extensive library. You will enjoy this house when you wake up in the morning and look at the sun rising across Tashmoo, when you sit on the beach or bluff during the day and observe the sailboats and fishermen passing towards the Sound, and in the evening admiring the sunset from the deck and having dinner on the porch. It doesn't come any better!

Swimming, fishing, and clamming from private beach. Ten minute drive to supermarket and other essential stores, 15 minutes from the ferry. Several interesting walks from the house through the woods to Vineyard Sound or along the many dirt roads. Two nearby working farms with many animals for the kids. All the wonderful attractions of Martha's Vineyard.

Perfect Old Timey Vineyard Cottage

The previous review struck a cord with me as I am also a long time Vineyard vacationer ~ as a child with my family on Katama Bay and more recently on my own. And this is the cottage I had hoped to find to rent a few times a year. The view is spectacular looking out over the Tashmoo opening to the Sound, the privacy exquisite, the quiet interurupted only by birds, the lapping water on the sandy beach, an occassional whinney, and at night the sound of the engines of the faraway ferry on its way past the flashing Woods Hole light. Yes, it is that quiet. The cottage is old timey, but up to date with appliances and comfy beds and a glorious full width screened front porch and wonderful short walks right outside the door. And it is but ten minutes to downtown Vineyard Haven. Everything about this place speaks of the Vineyard I fell in love with fifty years ago. How fortunate that such places still exist and are available to rent.

It doesn't get much better than this!
There is something very special about this house and property. This rental property is an ideal location for couples or families: It offers privacy and seclusion while still being incredibly convenient to restaurants, beaches and shopping. Its end of the road, waterfront location is only just the beginning of its appeal. The home is beautiful, comfortable, and inviting. The gorgeous white stone fireplace makes you wish for a cool rainy day. The sea air and winds coax you to sleep, whether you are reading a book on the screened in porch in the afternoon, or settling down for the night in your beach-side bedroom. I hadn't felt so relaxed in a very long time! When I was a child my parents rented beautiful houses all over the island every summer for us and I have recently been renting houses on the island with my family for a few summers. This one tops them all; we will hope to return to this unique charmer for many seasons to come.
