Beautifully decorated this home provides both indoor and outdoor living in a lovely setting. Recently added is a solar heated inground pool 16 ft X 32 ft with a cabana area including a half bath. The sunroom/porch offers a bright and cheerful spaciousness regardless of the time of year or weather.
New for the 2011 season is three zone air conditioning for those hot humid days and nights that sometimes make things uncomfortable for sleeping.
My husband Bill and I bought the property on the Island as out eventual retirement home. I have been a school librarian and Bill is an international business consultant. We have four grown children and two wonderful grandsons. We hope to have our island home house many family get togethers in the future.
The Owner purchased this house in 2000
My sister was very influential in our decision to buy our Martha's Vineyard property. As a real estate agent on the island she found a perfect spot and we both bought our three acres each and began to fulfill our dreams. Her creativity helped design the buildings and overall plan. After nine years we have both reached our goals and now have our guest house, main house and studio properties. It is here that we will retire and enjoy our island getaway
The peaceful relaxing atmosphere of the meadow away from the crowded vacation towns on the island prove a perfect retreat for a quiet time after a busy day on the island. Enjoy the sunsets or the wonderful starlit sky from the private hottub. Even on a rainy day this home is cozy and friendly for all who stay here.
We had a wonderful time staying at your house. Our 1 year old daughter, Emily, slept better here than at home in Brooklyn, NY! Thank you so much. We hope to return next year.
This family has returned for their third consecutive year.
My family and I have been staying at this home for the last three years. It has truly been a wonderful and serene experience for all of us. Upon arrival you can't help but notice how nicely manicured the grounds are kept. At the front entrance you are greeted by the sounds of a wind chime hanging by the window. Beyond that the interior of this house is clean, full of light and it has a spacious open layout. The homeowner is very conscientious providing books, board games, many children's videos, and even beach toys. Every year we look forward to our visit to the Vineyard and staying in this lovely home.
We arrived to a beautiful fresh clean home, that clearly showed the owners attention to details. Being greeted with a bouquet of cornflower blue Hydrangeas and a lovely bottle of wine was such a welcoming gesture and made us look forward to the days ahead. We can't express enough how enjoyable our stay was. We experienced all that the island offered, knowing we would return to such a lovely cottage for a star gazing evening. We look forward to returning. We highly recommend this paradise on Martha's Vineyard.
We had a fabulous time on the vineyard mainly because of this beautiful vacation home! It is perfectly tucked away in a serene setting yet close to everything. This home is filled with lots of love and feels so welcoming as soon as you drive up! Karen and Paul are just lovely and do everything to make you feel at home. The place is filled with lots of natural light and the grounds are just breathtaking! The kitchen is so pleasant & has a really cozy breakfast nook. Each corner of this house has a unique touch & the photographs don't do it justice. We brought our 6 month old daughter here and couldn't asked for a more perfect vacation home...Thanks for making our stay so pleasant. We truly hope to make this our once a year family tradition!
After a great week at the same property in September 2011, we came back to find it just as delightful the second time. The house is very clean and bright. It's very well laid out for two couples, with the two bedrooms at opposite ends of the house. The grounds are very well maintained. The saline, solar-heated pool is fantastic, staying around 80 degrees even with the cool September nights. This time we brought our bikes and really enjoyed the many bike trails on the island.
I wrote over a year ago that I stayed here with a young daughter and decided to return the following season, and we did. We had a wonderful time, both times. I really just wanted to reiterate that the pictures here perfectly illustrate the house and mention that the owners always responded promptly, were friendly and helpful. They had plenty of information in the house for things to do, and it truly was a home away from home.
...the only reason we didn't return this year is that we are interested in seeing other parts of the country and ventured further south for this year's trip. We did have a truly lovely time both times and hope to return again. I just wanted to reiterate what a lovely property this is -- and that Betty Jean was great at coordinating everything.
The house looked just as good in person as it does in the pictures. The kitchen was the best stocked one we've ever seen in a rental or timeshare. The house is very well laid out for two couples, with bedrooms and baths on opposite sides of the living area. All of the rooms have windows on three sides, making them very light and airy. The furnishings were all in very good condition.
The grounds are very well kept. The pool, with its non-chlorinated system, was the nicest I've been in in ages. The solar heater kept the temperatures around eighty degrees in mid-September.
September was a great time to visit, as it was still warm but much less crowded. We borrowed one of the kayaks (having brought one with us) and had great visits to Sengekontacket Pond and Edgartown Great Pond. The Vineyard has extensive bike paths; next time we'll bring our bikes as well. (You need to do something to work off Mad Martha's ice cream and Chilmark Chocolates!)
This was the most restful vacation we've had in years. We plan to return soon to Jennie Lane!
Away from the bustling summer frenzy but still within minutes to all island activities. Off the beaten track in a quiet peaceful meadow.
