Located ten minutes from the skiing at Whiteface Mt. and twenty-five minutes to the tourist attractions of Lake Placid, The 3 Bears Cabin, is a tranquil getaway location that is surrounded by as much excitement as you would wish to explore.
The 3 Bears Cabin is set in the solitude of the pine trees, yet is easily accessible, and a destination for family and friends. The Cabin is constructed using traditional post and beam craftsmanship where particular attention was paid to maintaining an airtight and draft free environment. The all-wood interior will surround you with a warm and comfortable feeling that can only be experienced in a home that is constructed in the post and beam fashion.
The main floor features cathedral-ceilings, and an open kitchen floor plan allows guests to interact while cooking and dining.
When it is time to retire for the evening, The 3 Bears Cabin will accommodate 6 guests and well trained dogs.
The cabin features two downstairs bedrooms, each with massive cedar mortise and tenon, queen-sized beds. The beds were crafted in the rustic tradition but the subtle pillow-top mattress will certainly soothe your tired muscles and ensure a restful night's sleep.
If one is looking to accommodate additional guests there is a comfortable queen-sized futon, with extra thick mattress, situated in front of the glass-fronted wood stove. Though the guests who choose to sleep on the futon will not have a traditional bed, they will however, have the experience of falling asleep in front of the fireplace while gazing up into the beautiful post and beam rafters.
The 3 Bears Cabin also has a full bath on each floor where one can take a hot shower and prepare for the adventures right at your doorstep.
Understood and over delivered, this home and its owner were fantastic. From the VT castings Wood stove to the beautiful deck, this house was the perfect retreat. Grill, tv and beds were all fantastic and the layout was ideal. We will be back.
The lcoation was great and the cabin is amazing. The kitchen was stocked with spices and cooking supplies, just like living in a house. Unfortunately the gas grill was broken and so was the tv. After three tries I finally heard back from the caretaker who offered no help and the owner did not return my emails until two days after arrival when I called the contact phone number. We gave up an afternoon waiting for the Dish repair people to arrive only to tell us we were out of luck as the pine trees are too tall and the satellite tv would not pick up eithe rof the satellite signals. We had five chanels we could view the last four days. The owner stated that it will be a year and a half before he can get cable so I would not rent if you want to have many channels on the tv. I would not have rented this if I had known the tv would not have been available.
I would definitely recommend this cabin to whomever might be interested in going to upstate New York. Nestled in the beautiful town of Jay, New York, this cabin more than meets any requirements in making it a home away from home. Pristinely clean, spacious and beautiful, I will definitely be back again.
The cabin was as advertised, but we experienced some disappointment upon arrival. There was a mix up with property management and the owner on our arrival date. When we arrived to the cabin, the cleaning had not been done. Dirty towels, sheets and no toilet paper or trash bags. The woodstove had a sign on it stating "do not use" and temperatures were below zero. Property management arrived the following morning to resolve some issues, but we never received a response or acknowledgement of the issue from the owner. Other than being disappointed upon arrival, we had a pleasant stay at the cabin.
We were there just a couple of weeks ago, and we can say that it was a pleasant experience.
When we needed to contact the owner, the answers were prompt and accurate.
The 3 Bears Cabin with its rustic interior is nice and fresh. In the bedrooms are big beds with soft and comfy mattresses, the kitchen is well appointed – you will find everything you need - and the bathrooms are clean.
There were two really cold days, but you couldn’t notice inside; the cabin stayed warm and cozy.
Adding its proximity to the slopes, only ten miles to Whiteface Ski Area, it is a fine place to stay.
My husband and I stayed at the Three Bears Cabin for one week this October and we thoroughly enjoyed this place. The cabin itself is entirely built of wood beams. It looks perfectly quaint but don't be fooled, it also has all the amenities you might be looking for in a modern accommodation!
First, finding the place was very easy with the directions provided, and we were able to access the place easily with the access code. It was all very convenient.
The exterior is beautiful and the cabin has a great wrap-around porch on three sides. The back gives on a fully wooded area and when we were there, the colors were at their peak! Just breathtaking!
The interior is gorgeous, all made of wood, with a wood stove that we did not get to use because the weather was still quite warm. There is also very convenient baseboard heaters to keep the place toasty for early morning. The place was vey clean and there were some basic supplies in the kitchen (spices, dishwashing liquid, tea, etc), which was much appreciated. We ended up leaving some of the things we purchased for the next visitors.
The kitchen is well equipped, with a gas stove and a full-sized fridge, as well as coffee maker, microwave, and all the pots and pans and dishes you might need. The living room has a futon which we didn't need to use, but it could be great for a larger group.
Kudos for the internet connection! We still had to work while we were away and had a great connection at all times. If your cell phone shows no service, try going out on the porch... that worked for us. There is an excellent television with a satellite dish service that was nice for us in the evening.
The bedrooms are in the lower level, which is a walk-out to the backyard area. Two bedrooms, large enough, with very comfortable beds. Two bathrooms: one upstairs by the kitchen and one on the lower level, the latter is equipped with heat lamps, which is probably very nice in winter, after a day on the slopes. Plenty of hot water and great water pressure! Washer and dryer are in the closet of the second bedroom.
The cabin feels very private, but it is not completely isolated, which was good for us as we are used to living in the city. We went out for walks nearly every day of the week and enjoyed the area very much.
We would definitely recommend this place for a quiet retreat or for a family get together.
