This gem miner's retreat is private, serene, wooded, and a short distance from all of the outdoor fun, adventures, and activities the Great Smoky Mountains have to offer. Located near the intersection of Ruby Mine Road and Cherokee Mine Road, this cabin enjoys a beautiful mountain view, and is situated in the heart of the beautiful and peaceful 'Historic District Area' of Cowee Valley, NC. The Cherokee Ruby and Sapphire Mine is a short and scenic hike from this cabin. Our private road and driveway areas are paved with mining gravel from the Cherokee Ruby and Sapphire Mine, and many nice gems have been collected along our drive. No smoking is permitted inside of the cabin. Pet permitted with pet deposit.

A great getaway & very reasonable rates. LOVED IT!

Amanda, the owner, worked with us in every way so we would have a very pleasant stay in her cabin.
The views are great, cabin is immaculate and we couldn't be happier about our stay.
Maria, "Mom", was there to answer any questions about the area and she is also the manager of the Cherokee Ruby Mine just below where the cabin is situated.
The only thing I can say about the road to the cabin is that you need to make sure you are not in a "low-rider" and all-wheel or four-wheel drive doesen't hurt either.
The trips we made to the gem museum in Franklin were nice and so was the pizza at the Fun Factory. That is the place to go for a great price on all-you-can-eat pizza buffet and games for the kids.
We look forward to making another trip next year for a week and recharge our human batteries.
Don't hesitate to take advantage of a great get away for you and the family or friends or just you and your loved one.
May your enjoy your trip as much as my wife and I did.

Just what we wanted remote, Quiet, vacation

This cabin has everything you need for a super quiet getaway!
We are so glad we found this little place and hope to return again soon.

It is up the moutains pretty far, would not take a low car on these roads. We did have cell coverage even with all the trees in the area.
Found out it is spotty in other areas of the town of Franklin.

There was nothing that we needed when we stayed at the cabin.
(Well a swimming pool might have been nice but there is no area for one).

The owners are very nice and friendly people.

They have replaced the floor to all pine wood it just gives it the woodsy feeling any cabin needs.

We got rockers for the screened in porch the 2nd day we were there.
Even though we didn't use them they gave a comfy feeling to the cabin.

We also used the washer to wash our dirty clothes after several days at the mines. This was one thing we were seeking out and the washer worked fine when we were there.

We baked cookies early in the morning and packed our lunch to go to the mines each day trying to return before dark each night. The road / trail to the cabinis a single lane and on the edge of the moutain it is very dark at night and there is no where to pull off the road.
We used the gas gril nightly to our evening meal.

We also went to the town of Cherokee for one day would recomend it to everyone in the area. Our kids (10 & 12) were in awe over the 3 hour long Out Door Drama in Cherokee.

If you are looking for a Quiet, out of the main stream, private place it is great!!

Secluded and Peaceful

Way up a narrow, private gravel road. Not for those afraid of heights. Maria (mom) is across drive if you need anything. It's so quiet and peaceful you'll never want to leave. Whitewater rafting, trout fishing, "Fun Factory" in Franklin is a MUST if you have kids from 1 to 99.Of course the Ruby mine is at the bottom of the hill where the people are all so nice and laid back you'll feel right at home. The produce stand on 28 is a good place for fishing info. They're very helpful and just some of the nicest people you'll ever meet, The highlands road scenery will blow you away, you can pull off and picnic, fish, take a pic under a waterfall, taxidermy museum,shops, etc. If you're looking to slow down, relax and enjoy the sights,sounds and great people this is the place for you. Our 9 year old boy and 14 year old girl loved the fun factory, the mining only kept their attention for an hour or two. They liked the private roads to hike on, rafting was a big hit. TV is small, but whose watching tv when you have the screened in porch. Let the kids watch tv while the wife and I went mining just down the hill. The house is being renavated, the floors look great,the screened porch is great, the uncovered porch needs a little work but I'm sure it'll be fixed soon.Overall you couldn't ask for better people or a cabin with more charm! I've gotta have a screened in porch with rocking chairs now that I've been spoiledl
