Beautiful view and great location. Even in December, the balcony was sunny and comfortable in the morning. We were treated to a view of the moon over the ocean at night and sunrise in the morning. Unfortunately, the bedroom TV wasn't hooked up to anything and the remote in the living room didn't work so we could only see one channel (no Manual controls on the cable). The cd player on the stereo didn't work and neither did the icemaker, or two of the burners. The onsite washers were turned off for the winter as well and the water pressure was not great in the main bath. With a few simple repairs, this would be a top notch stay. As it was, I still got what I came for with unimpeded access to ocean views and the soothing sound of the waves at a great price in a pet friendly ,comfortable home?
We had a wonderful time. It was great being able to bring our dogs. The ocean view was gorgeous. We're looking forward to our next visit!
i though this place was great for us and our 5 kids. it was close enough to walk to and affordable. everything was clean and there were all the essentials that you may need for cooking.
This was our first trip to the Outer Banks after going to Myrtle Beach every year but two since 2003 (the two years we didn't go there we went to the mountains).
We were very happy with this property overall. It was very affordable for us and we were able to take our dogs, saving a ton on kenneling costs. It was by far the cheapest we could find to fit our family with 3 small dogs as most places have a one or two dog limit, no matter the size.
We have four children, all of whom enjoyed digging in the sand and body boarding in the surf (as did their parents!). We went to two of the OBX lighthouses and have reason to come back for the others. We combined the horse tour in Corolla with our trip to Currituck and then went to Big Al's in Manteo on our way back from Bodie Island. There are several mini golf courses for the kids to enjoy, another reason to come again as we only went to one.
I gave it only 4 stars because it isn't directly oceanfront but the view isn't obstructed and we weren't so far back that we couldn't hear the waves. In previous years at Myrtle, we've had to look over side roads or the pool complex so we really didn't get the effect we wanted as we had road noise and people noise from the pools to drown out the crashing waves. The condo could use some updating to the flooring, the bunk bed rails, and the master bedroom mattress, but none of these things would prevent us from returning. Jessica is so easy to work with, and I've already alerted her to our high probability of returning next July.
We'd prefer to stay in a stand-alone house but those are more than our entire vacation budget. This condo has no side neighbors, just above and below, so we didn't experience any noise other than footsteps overhead. We did not experience the pedestrian noise (possibly from Goombay's) as another person experienced. It was fun to watch the scuba divers and spear fishermen at the shipwreck and didn't have to pay for a dolphin tour as several showed up just a bit north of us, which was great for the kids.
The beach is kind of narrow for lack of a better word, but we didn't find that to be problematic. We had plenty of room to frolic in the ocean but the afternoon was much deeper much sooner than the morning was. That was interesting but neither good nor bad.
None of us wanted to leave yesterday, and we're all excited to return sooner rather than later. Thank you, Jessica!
The location was close to everything and every location of the OBX which was great with 4 kids. The price was affordable especially for pet friendly. Downfall was there was not much beach in the area to actually enjoy this year. We came to the Outer Banks to enjoy the beach without the extreme party behavior in Myrtle beach where we usually vacation. That was achieved, very family friendly and peaceful. We loved the atmosphere but we are still uncertain if it was actually worth the lack of beach, our kids didn't really get as much playtime on the beach that they crave each year. High tide and low tide were pretty much the same. I assume it was due to the storm before our arrival but after the first few steps into the ocean it dropped off to over 4 feet and was over my smaller childrens heads. That was the biggest downfall and what beach there was before the water was on pretty steep slope. Overall if you love the OBX Jessica is extremely nice and easy to reach at anytime, also helpful with tips about the area. She was great!! If we actually got to enjoy the beautiful ocean we watched from the balcony all day then I would give it 5 stars but unfortunately the kids were left wishing we had returned to location we normally visit in Cherry Grove. Clean and peaceful, very friendly people and no rush anywhere but lacking actual beach and play area so I had to give it 3 stars during the time of our visit but I am sure the conditions change rapidly at the OBX and maybe at another time the water would not be so deep at the surf line and there would be more beach to enjoy. Hats off to Jess though, she is superb.
Our group of 4 adults, 2 babies, and 1 big dog really enjoyed our stay at this condo. Jessica was great to work with. Answered all emails promptly and took care of our one issue (internet wasn't working when we first arrived) as quick as she could.
You couldn't ask for a better OBX location. Right near tons of restaurants, easy access to Jockey's Ridge and the Wright Brothers memorial, and of course, right on the beach! The beach in front of the condo wasn't even super packed despite it being Memorial Day weekend and having public access right there. The condo has a nice view of the ocean and we loved how easy it was to go back and forth from the beach. It was also a big plus that we could bring our dog.
We had plenty of space for our group. The kitchen was stocked well enough for us to cook 2 dinners, 2 lunches, and 2 breakfasts. Everything was clean and the only problem we noticed was that 2 burners on the stove didn't work. Most people aren't cooking 4 burner meals on vacation though, so probably not important!
The only caution I would give is that if you are sensitive to noise when you sleep, and you are going during busy season, this is not a quiet location. There was quite a bit of noise from outside (maybe people going to/leaving Goombays?). It didn't really disturb our sleep, but it was noticeable.
Would definitely recommend staying here. For the price, you can't beat it!
