Welcome to the Bear Den in the Grandfather Mountain Community of Seven Devils. This hand-hewn log cabin is a vacation getaway for any reason or season. The Bear Den is 10 minutes from Boone just off Highway 105 and is easily accessible by a state maintained paved road. At an altitude of 3800 feet it is nestled in Hawksnests' scenic mountain terrain with easy access, it is rustically decorated and furnished. Conveniently located near the Watagua River and the 4 major ski / snow board resorts of the area which are Hawksnest, Sugar Mountain, Appalachian, and Beech Mountain. This friendly Lakes Community cabin offers gorgeous native mountain foliage, cool streams, tranquil trout stocked ponds, natural rock formations, invigorating fresh air, and an abundance of wildlife. There are plenty of things to do for one and all, from antiquing and shopping to sledding/tubing and skiing.

Winter Wonderland!

We stayed at this cabin in Feb 06 and it was amazing! Nicely decorated, very clean, cabinets are stocked with all great things from home and great location. There was plenty of snow which made it even more fantastic! Skiing, making snowmen, sledding, fabulous restuarants and grilling on the covered back porch kept us busy! Now that we have experienced a great winter at the "Bear Den" we are looking forward to reserving it this fall!

Home Away From Home

"The Bear Den" has become a family favorite during the holiday season in the North Carolina Mountains. Nestled between Boone and quaint Banner Elk, Seven Devils provides the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle of life.

Our family has enjoyed this beautiful rustic cabin for our third Thanksgiving and it just keeps getting better year after year. Nothing could be more inviting than a cozy evening in front of the fireplace. Sneak in a toasted marshmallow or two and it's perfect! We have enjoyed many an afternoon sitting on the front porch reading a book and rocking in the rocking chairs!

The Lakes Community provides a quiet atmosphere to read and listen to the sounds of nature that surround you. Don't forget to take a walk around the community and visit the pond! There are plenty of spots for the perfect photo! We normally take our Christmas card photos here each year as we continue to discover new places to take them around the cabin and Seven Devils!

The pool table and WiFi Internet connection have been welcome additions to the cabin that provide hours of entertainment!

We hope you take the opportunity to visit this beautiful mountain retreat. We're sure you won't regret it!

Spring vacation at Seven Devils

During our visit to Boone, N.C. we stayed at a very comfortable cozy cabin called the Bear Den located in Seven Devils Community.The cabin was very well cared for, the rooms were large and very nicely decorated in the cabin theme.The greatroom had a stone fireplace which we found enjoyable while dining in the evening.There was a gameroom complete with a pooltable and lots of electronic games. The front porch was just wonderful for early morning bird watching or just communing with nature. We hope on our next trip to the area we will be able to stay in this cabin again. We rate it great!

I could live here!

While staying at the Bear Den my husband said he could easily live in this fabulous cabin. We wanted to get away for a long weekend & this was the best place. It is so easy to find, warm and cozy, and so much to do in the area! We had a blast, enjoyed the restaraunts close by and had fun the really nice kitchen. This place is very well taken care of and you will love it!!

Humming Bird Heaven !!

I know it's called the Bear Den and while I didn't see any bears (which suits me just fine) I did see lots of humming birds......right on the front porch! Everything about this cabin is A # 1. The owners obviously pride themselves on tasteful decor and assuring renters that they will have everything they need for a vacation......nothing is missing from this exceptional cabin. We did lots of sightseeing and dining out. There's always plenty to do and you don't have to go very far to do it. Or you can sit on the front porch and watch the humming birds at the feeders. It's all good!
