A true get away from it all place

We stayed at the Raven’s Crest cabin in 2004. The cabin is about 5 miles up a one lane dirt and gravel road which in a few places is pretty steep. I would recommend a 4 wheel drive vehicle, but a good car will make it if you have patience. It’s a journey in itself getting to the cabin, but a fun journey. The cabin is nice and the view is great. I would bring extra blankets and towels and definitely bring a jacket and some warm clothing, even in the middle of the summer. There are some hiking trails around the area or you can just walk the roads. One of the trails begins right out the front door and takes you to sunset point which has a great view and you can see Cherokee from there on a clear day. There is another trail leading back from Sunset Point which will bring you out at the bottom of the hill from the cabin. Half a mile down the road is a trail that leads up to Black Rock, we never made it up there because my better half ran out of energy. If you are looking for a place to truly get away from it all this is the place. We were up there for a week and only seen other people on the last day we were there. You can sit on the porch at night and hear nothing but the wind in the trees, the distance waterfalls and the sounds of cars on the Blue Ridge Parkway (which is about 2 miles away). You can sit there and watch the ghostly projection of headlights going through the trees on the parkway. All I have ever thought about since leaving there was going back.
Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the review. We appreciate your feedback on the need for a few extra blankets, and we will take care of it immediately. We are glad you enjoyed your stay!
