This beautiful, hillside vacation villa is located in 'Pedregal,' an exclusive, secure gated community in Cabo San Lucas. Relax with a drink and your loved ones on the large rooftop patio while watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean.
Our home is one of the best values in all of Cabo in terms of luxury experience for the price. While all of Pedregal is special, the location of our home offers the advantages of close proximity to town but is shielded from the sounds of the nightclubs when you are ready to sleep.
The home features 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 3000 square feet of living space and 1800 square feet of outdoor terraces and yard. The second floor living area has ocean views. A full kitchen (completely remodeled in 2008) and BBQ give you the option to stay home for meals if you desire. For your dining variety, there are tables and chairs at all three outdoor patio areas.
The rooftop patio has a bar and expansive views of the ocean and neighboring areas of Pedregal. Separate levels of the home offer a private heated swimming pool and a secluded jacuzzi. One of the bedrooms and bath is detached from the main house in an adjacent 'casita.'
Nearby you will have access to miles of private beach, a children's play area, the new El Rincon Spa and the lighted Pedregal tennis courts. For superb shopping and night life, downtown Cabo is only 1 mile away.

We (Richard & Kathy Bowles, and Jeff & Melinda Dieden) live in Lafayette, California where we enjoy the diversity, geography and weather of the San Francisco East Bay. We originally met at our children's school over 20 years ago, and now we travel, golf, attend Cal football games, and share other activities together.
Kathy purchased this house in 2006
After carefully exploring many areas and cities in Mexico, we decided that Cabo San Lucas was the best location for our vacation home. The private Pedregal gated community where our villa is located is the most scenic, safe and charming place in Cabo. We believe Cabo is the best overall vacation spot in Mexico for several reasons: the flights to Cabo from the US and Canada are relatively short (2 hours from LA, 3 hours from SF, 4 1/2 hours from Chicago, etc.), Cabo is clean and safe with a low crime rate, the weather is fantastic for most of the year, there are many outdoor activities to enjoy (great beaches, boating, sportfishing, golf, scuba and snorkel diving, off-road motorbike and AWD riding, and many more), the food is excellent and diverse, etc.
Our villa has over 1800 sq. feet of outdoor space on 3 different levels, offering both sun and shade and lots of chaise lounges, tables and chairs. It is one of the few Pedregal villas with a rooftop patio, which offers many different views, including the ocean. We also have lower patios surrounding our heated pool on one level and the jacuzzi on the bedroom level.
We completed a kitchen remodel in 2008 with all new stainless steel appliances, wooden cabinetry and granite countertops. Villa Sonrisa is one of the best bargains in Pedregal, as there is ample sleeping and living space for the 3 bedrooms. Many guests comment that they appreciate the excellent location of Villa Sonrisa - just a few minutes from the town of Cabo, but shielded from the late-night noise of the nightclubs and bars. We know you will enjoy our home as much as we do.
I want to thank you for an amazing stay at your Villa Sonrisa. Just as advertised, it was beautiful! Katie and I got engaged at the beach in Pedregal while we were there!
I found Villa Sonrisa to be a perfect fit for our group of eight. Everything was as advertised or better. The house was perfectly clean and in great condition. My favorite part was the view from the roof - it was breathtaking and I don't think you could spend too much time up there. The pool was fantastic and also had a great view. Overall, I was nicely surprised by Villa Sonrisa and would love to go back.
Villa Sonrisa was a perfect getaway house for three couples. We were in Cabo during Spring Break, so we wanted to be able to get away from the craziness in town. Pedregal was a good choice, and Villa Sonrisa gives you lovely views of the town and the Pacific Ocean. We appreciated the large living/dining/kitchen space with sliding glass doors that let in the cooling breezes. There was no need for A/C even though it was 88 degrees. Each morning we walked a mile down to the beach, and each afternoon a mile into town. It is very steep going, but that's how you get the lovely views!
The owners were very responsive. All correspondence was replied to within 24 hours, including the mailing of our deposit within a day of our return home. We were sent a very helpful guide when we booked, that gave us options to get to the Villa from the airport, shopping, dining, and even massage recommendations. The property manager was waiting for us upon arrival, and gave us his mobile number to contact at any time. We had no need to contact him, as everything went very smoothly.
Wow - what a vacation. We stay at Villa Sonrisa for a week for our March break family vacation. We watched both the sun rise over the water and sun set over the water from the roof top patio. Our children at 17, 15 and 12. Villa Sonrisa gave all of us lots of space when we needed and let us hang out together when we wanted. Pedregal, the section of Cabo where Villa Sonrisa is located, has truly amazing views. Cabo San Lucas was a short drive away (5 minutes) and we enjoyed our trips into town to have dinner by the marina, visit shops, go to the beach and even pick up groceries at Walmart.
We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Villa Sonrisa to celebrate a family member’s birthday and would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone. Upon arrival the property manager was waiting to show us the house and provided superb advice and pointers for our stay in Cabo San Lucas. He was so professional and on point that he even took it upon himself to fix a minor plumbing problem that the housekeeper had informed him of. He had the entire issue resolved in a matter of hours. The house is a modern Baja California style spread with three levels which provides breathtaking views of both the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean from the pool and rooftop deck. The property is gorgeous and meticulously taken care of. The pictures online did not do it justice. It is an immense structure and comfortably sleeps 6 adults with the possibility of 8 people using the 2 pullout sofas. The kitchen in particular was fully renovated and equipped with absolutely everything you might need for cooking or entertaining. Even in the hot Mexican summer we found refuge in the climate controlled house and pool (and also in our tasty margaritas which we made in the blender each day) The owner was a delight to rent from and answered each of our questions in a timely and concise manner. She is a true professional all the way! If you are looking for a fantastic and stress-free trip to Mexico, Villa Sonrisa is the way to do it. We hope to return soon!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this house in the Pedregal section of Cabo. We were needing to accommodate 2 young children as it was perfect. There was plenty of space along with a small pool and spa for relaxing evenings at the end of the day. The property management company was very accommodating and help coordinate car services from the airport. I would highly recommend this property if you are looking for a nice spacious property to accommodate a family or small group looking to spend time outside the normal resort communities. Great dining and night life are just a short 10 minute drive away.
Would I do Cabo San Lucas again? Absolutely!! Our stay at Villa Sonrisa was a pleasant experience of the Baja Peninsula and I would recommend it to anyone who is tired of resorts. It was nice to have your own space, eat when you wanted, enjoy the pool or hot tub when you wanted and the evening Pacific Breezes and Sunsets were a fantastic way to end the days with a nice bottle of wine.
The House: Plenty of room for 3 couples and privacy if you needed it. First thing we did was set the temperature on the pool at 91* and the Hot tub at 102*. It was perfect! For those who are not mechanically inclined the temp settings are in the utility room behind the hot tub. Everything worked fine in the house but if you want to run the dishwasher you had to make sure no one was showering. Water pressure was low. We had one hiccup when the hot water heater let go and leaked water into one of the bathrooms, but the maintenance crew was very quick to respond. An ice cold Cerveza goes a long way!!
Location: The location was perfect for access to downtown, the marina, mall, shopping or pretty much anything you needed. It was nice to have Costco and a Walmart close by. Access to the beach was a bit of a challenge until we found it. Recommend driving to it. The beach is not for swimming but if you love to watch huge waves crashing the beach and the rocks like we did, then I highly recommend it. Sunsets are amazing too!
Locals: Met some fantastic people and they were a great help for anything. I recommend a trip to the Hacienda Cerritos and the Hotel California.
Thank you to the owners of the Villa Sonrisa for a wonderful experience and we hope to book another trip soon. Maybe we'll bring the grandkids next time. On second thought no!
Note: When you book your rental car, take the owners advice and do not book through the major rental companies. We got ripped off!
